Vacation alternative? Any help or suggestions...

For some other ideas, we enjoyed the Grand canyon. San Francisco, San Diego and San Clemente in Ca. As the previous poster said, Gatlinburg Tn and the surrounding area is beautiful. The fall is beautiful there.Hot Springs, Ar is also a nice place to visit. I still would go to the caribbean though.

Actually, we took the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Vegas trip this Fall break. I'm glad we did it once, but I definitely wouldn't do Vegas with kids again. Not as family friendly as we would like & we kind of ran out of things to do that were kid appropriate. We are glad we did it once, we especially like the shows, "Mamma Mia" and Lord of the Dance. Had a great time at the Tournament of the Kings at the Excaliber. We stayed at the Venetian and it was beautiful. Hubby & I would like to go back without the kiddos.

If anyone is planning on touring the Grand Canyon, we lucked on to a great tour company "Canyon Dave". He has a website: www.canyondave.com. This was great fun & really educational in a fun way for all of us. We stayed at the Grand Hotel in Tusayan, if we ever go back we will try the historic El Tovar. We had a very nice dinner there one night - I'd compare it to Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge.

We didn't end up taking the tour of the Hoover Dam, we were there when the war broke out & security was really stepped up. It took us almost 3 hours to travel about 5 miles driving into the area, which was not the day we had planned to tour & decided not to go back.

Another vote for Hilton Head. Not only is it relaxing, but you can stay on Disney property. It is also just 45 minutes from Savannah. Savannah is very historical with alot of ghostly tales along with great restaurants and festivals along the water front.
