Hi,I am thinking about taking my clothes in vac pak bags to save space - also to leave room in the cases for all those clothes from mall's on way home. :cool1:Only problem is i have no vacuum to use in hotel to shrink them with - i know the maids obviously have vacuums but are they upright ones or do they have a nozzle to fit the bags :confused3 Also our second week of stay is in AK Villa studio and i know we have a vacuum in the room but does anyone know if i can use it on the bags ??

I don't recall a vacuum in our room at AKV earlier this year, but then again I wasn't looking for one!

I'm back there in a few weeks so will look then but no doubt someone else will have the info before then :)

I think the studios will have a hoover.

Also some of the space bags you can roll the air out of... see if you can find them:)

Good luck and happy shopping.

This is so funny. I saw the title of your thread and thought it was the same one I saw last week - except that poster wanted to know if they could borrow the Mousekeeping vac to seal their bags. I found it really funny, but since you would only need to use it once I am sure you could ask if there isn't one there. Have you thought of asking on the Resorts board? There is an AKL thread on there and you may even find the answer is there already.

Remember that these bags save SPACE but they do not save WEIGHT. Whilst it may mean that your luggage has less volume, it will still weigh the same and you will still need to make sure it meets your airline's luggage weight requirements.

Thats a good point  I always weigh the bags with fishing scales anyway but i don't have very big cases and don't want to go and buy new ones, even full they weigh only about 15kg. Hubby will be pulling them, so I will let him worry about the weight

Ive been through the AKL thread but couldn't find any info. I do want to borrow mousekeeping hoover for the bags, hopefully they will let me :rotfl2:

I use the bags that you can roll the air out of, but even the larger bags that you're advised to use a hoover for, I roll most of the air out because I usually can't be bothered messing around with a hoover! :rolleyes1

my comment would be you dont need all those clothes:rotfl:
sorry!!
tracy

I agree with Tracy:lmao: I took them last time (the space savers ) and they were a nightmare! all the clothes were creased and the bag was shaped like a bent shriveled banana. I used mousekeeping at OKW for ours though I threw one away.Personal choice.

I pack with these all the time (7 0f us ~ 5 kids ...lol), i tend to pack each childs seperatly in smaller bags, maskes unpacking easy, and our clothes are never creased....?, but we use the hoover and get all the air out i think that makes a diffrence, you can borrow one from mousekeeping or theres one in dvc accomodation in the waldrobe x

The bags that I've used have always stayed flat after I've got the air out and the vast majority of our clothes aren't creased. Perhaps it's the difference between the different types of bags. :confused3

This might be a dumb question, but what if your bags were searched?:rotfl:

That's a sensible question - i guess i would have to ask security for a hoover:rotfl2: I think these bags might be more trouble than they are worth. Might just ditch that idea!!

Have used these for the last ciuple of years now with no problems.
Last year we stayed AKL not DVC and the room had a hoover, on DVC have always had a hoover in room.
As stated do not reduce baggage weight but sure gives plenty of extra space in cases.
