What did your Valentine get you, and what did you give them?

DBF bought me 2 nice blouses for work ( I start tomorrow and we went shopping last night and he surprised me with buying them)..I love him so much...

I told him to not get me anything since we just got back from a vacation...

So tell us the gifts you got...

Nothing, but to be fair I didn't get him anything either :) After years of giving him gifts and getting nothing in return I figured whats the point. I know you don't give a gift to get a gift but when tradition is that you give your love a little token on V-day,well you know.....
I got my kids webkinz and candy and my youngest made me a sweet card :lovestruc

DH sent flowers on Friday. I gave him a a headlamp, a thermos and a game.

DH got me a card, tulips and a heart shaped box of candy :goodvibes

I got him a card and a bath towel that he had seen and liked - not the typical Valentine's gift but he loved it

We are going to lunch at PF Changs as well. yay!

We stopped exchanging about 15 years ago....we are the type that if we want something, we just go get it. Also, we just came back from the world on Monday....that is quite a gift!

My STBX-H left us in October, so no Valentine for me!

However, I bought a set of 3 matching sterling silver rings with a beautiful etched design on the bands and gave two of them to my DDs. Their rings are on silver chains. Mine is on my ring finger. I told them that I know the last few months have been difficult, and that these rings were a promise that the 3 of us would always be a family and always be there for each other. My 9-year old cried. :lovestruc

DH and I are going out to eat tonight. That's our gift to each other.

DS has a Confirmation retreat this evening, and the local pub is offering a deal of buy one entree, get the second at half price. After what we're going to pay for my dog's surgery tomorrow, we're lucky to afford that. :)

We got DS a $25 ITunes gift card and a package of Valentine's cupcakes instead of candy. For some reason yesterday, ShopRite was out of reasonably-priced Valentine candy that he would like. So I got him the cupcakes instead. He really likes SR's cupcakes. :cake:

We didn't get each other anything.
Same here. DH and I prefer the more frequent occasions when we get each other gifts "just because I love you" as opposed to waiting for one particular day.

Some friends of ours, however, tried to do the whole "Valentine Dinner Out" thing last night. She called me this morning and had nothing but bad stories about how the restaurants were crowded, the waiters/waitresses harried, not worth the time, not very romantic, movie was bad with all the couples surrounding them with PDAs, her DH says never again, etc, etc, etc. I'm glad DH and I didn't try to follow the crowd with the whole Valentine's Day thing.

I got dh chocolate and chapstick, since he complains he always loses his other ones. The kids were the ones who were spoiled this year. I bought my own gift from "him" for V day. A book and some chocolates.

My wife and I decided long ago to stop celebrating this holiday. We love one another every day and buy one another gifts randomly. Our special days are our wedding anniversary and the birthdays of our children.

It seems to me that this holiday was probably created by florists... :lmao:

Our gift to one another is spending the day together (though my sweetie is out right now getting white chocolate mocha's). He's making me dinner and I'm making dessert. We'll also exchange cards with sweet notes.

I'm not a flowers and chocolates for Valentine's kind of girl. I love flowers, but would rather get them in March just because he saw a beautiful bunch and thought that I would love them than because it's Valentines Day and the thinks he has to.

This is the first year we haven't done something for the other. It's more circumstance than choice. I was supposed to travel to my husband this week. Due to the never ending storm here and snow then in GA it wasn't meant to be.

I told him to go buy himself an Itunes card and I would go out for retail therapy. I'm thinking V-day is not our day lol as it seems we have a "distaster" story for almost every v-day.

OT: Valentines day is also National Condom Day. Wonder if it's a coincedence:confused3:rotfl:

My DH is so upset that the gift he ordered 10 days ago did not make it. I am not surprised since we have had two snow storms since then that dumped about 4 feet of snow on us.

He made me chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Yummmmmmmmmmm

I got him a candy he would like.

I'm making Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese soup for dinner- I think I'll also grill some awesome burgers (watched FoodNetwork last night before bed) my dh LOVES burgers:love:

He's going to work at noon (on his day off)- that's his gift to me- he works really hard and is an excellent provider.

That's so sweet!

My kids made us breakfast in bed - toast and bottles of Starbuck's mocha frap. Such sweeties! :lovestruc

That would be a big fat nothing from DH.

DD painted me a nice picture and got me a pretty card.

I got this...

...but that's because I cut out the ad for it a couple weeks back and left it on dh's desk..:rolleyes1

But it has to be exchanged as my right hand finger is bigger than my left - we went by my wedding ring size. :(

I found my dh a funny card and gave him some jelly bellies. He gave me the ring and made a funny card. He gave dd11 a heart-shaped box of candy and I gave her a pair of TOM's shoes - Make Art Not War - and we told ds15 he could get a book he wanted.

As a family we hope to go out for Japanese food later...

Jill
