I tried booking the chef's table in the morning with no luck. I got through at 4:04 AM PST and it was gone. Oh well, I ended up booking the regular dining room and am looking forward to it.

But...

Has anyone ever had any success at booking the chef's table after the 180 day window thanks to a cancellation. I am just wondering if it is worth the effort of calling every morning for the next 6 months to see if a space has opened up. Or is it a waste of long distance toll charges.

People often change their plans, after they book 180 days out. We were able to get a F&W dinner fairly close to the date, even though they usually sell out the first day, due to a cancellation. You could start trying a month or so before your trip to check on cancellations. Also, it's best to have 3-4 nights when you could do it. I've even read on these boards that sometimes people call the day they want to go and are able to nab the Chef's Table.

Good luck!

Our first Chef's Table experience was EXACTLY that sort of thing.

2 years ago Easter......it was not available. I kept calling. Once a month in the beginning and weekly once we were down to the 2 month mark.

2 weeks BEFORE....it suddenly became available!

Stitch- Just make sure that the night you're trying to book is actually available (The chef's table is only available to book 4 nights of the week- the other three nights are only booked by Chef Scott himself (VIPs - that sort of thing).

The ressie agents will not necessarily volunteer this info - they'll just tell you it's unavailable. You have to ask! And No, I don't remember which 3 nights of the week were not available for booking- sorry (Maybe someone else does). Jill

We actually had to cancel our ressie for the Chef's Table last summer. My Dh had reserved it for our anniversary but neither of our DDs was interested in the experience. Since it was our 25th anniversary we wanted to include them in the celebration and ended at at the CG.
We canceled the ressie about 4 months out so there is a chance you might get lucky.
