Does anyone have any info on the Chef's Table at V & A's?

Price? How far in advance do we have to make PS? Any opinions?

Any info would be helpful.
Thanks!

I have some info on my site on the PS Calculator page (use links in my signature). It's "about" 180 days in advance. I say about because there has been sometimes the CMs don't seem to know about this meal. It's best to ask for or call direct the Grand Floridian itself.

You need to make reservations for this through Group reservations and not the regular dining.

We ate at the Chef's Table in Jan 2002. You need to make reservations 6 months in advance as there is only 1 table there at a time. We called 4 months in advance and only 1 night was available for the time we were going to be there.

There are 2 days a week that the table isn't available. I believe it's Wed and Fridays but double check on that. These days are reserved for the Chef to invite anyone he would like. Whether it be a VIP, friends other visiting chefs, etc. If they don't need the table they will open it up but I don't know how many days in advance they let you know.

You can also be put on a waiting list if the day you want is not available.

We thought the meal was wonderful and the service was outstanding. My husband ordered the wine pairing and they are not stingy with the wine at all. Be careful though or you will walk out of there tipsy.

I had a split of Moet and Chandon but I could have done without it as at the Chef's table they open a bottle of champagne for you. I thought it was just one glass for a toast with the chef but they just keep refilling the glass. So I could have just had that.

If you are looking for romantic don't do the Chef's table. The dining room is way more romantic.

We did it once but next time we go we will just be in the dining room.

I want to point out that my husband is a chef so being in the kitchen and watching them prepare the food and cook it was no big deal to us as we know what it's like "behind the scenes" at a restaurant. That may have been the reason we were unimpressed with sitting at the Chef's table. Everything else was wonderful.

I didn't want to do the Chef's table because of this but he wanted to try it.

This was, without a doubt, one of the two best meals I've ever had anywhere!

You can make reservations up to 180 days in advance, and I'd strongly suggest you do so, as it fills up very quickly. The chef(s) prepare things based on what you tell them after you first arrive. I'm an adventurous eater, so I found it easier to tell them the very few things I DON'T like. If you're not a risk taker with food, you may wish to tell them what you *do* like.

The price varies with options, such as wine pairings, or a step up from that would be the Royal wine pairings, which is what we did - this gets you higher quality wines, if that's your thing.

It's an incredible experience, and one I hope to repeat soon. Let me just say though, that ... while *I* loved it, as stated, I'm willing to try anything foodwise. If you're not, you may want to rethink. I only say that because DH and my SIL were at the meal with me, and they're plain eaters, and were less impressed than I was at the experience.
