I know kids 10 and under aren't allowed at V&A in the main dining room, but are they at the Chef's Table? It's away from the main dining area and, I suspect, noisy from the kitchen so the noise from the kids shouldn't bother the other diners.

Anyone know?

No, nobody under 10 allowed. If you think about it for a moment, the Chef's Table location would preclude having younger children in the area, you are right next to a major passageway in a (very high-end) commercial kitchen. As an adult, I felt it was an area where things happen very fast, and everyone at the Chef's Table had to be careful and stay in the table area, out of the way of the people working in the kitchen. As well, getting to the nearest washrooms requires being escorted through both the kitchen and the main dining room, so you are in full view of the other diners--the route to the washroom is very circuitous, to say the least.

I think that all others at the table should be told there are diners under 18!

No, kids under 10 aren't allowed at the Chefs Table, they're not even allowed into the restaurant.

We've done the Chef's Table numerous times. The V&A kitchen is as quiet as a library! Nothing like the kitchens on the Food Network shows!

The only exception I have heard of since the rule went into effect is when the Restaurant Critic of The New York Times came. But the child (almost ten anyway) was very used to fine dining and it was at CT.

It looks to me (from examining your signature) that you have a three year old and a five year old. Even if they did allow the children, you would be paying over $250 each including tax and tip.

The answer is: No.

I was actually looking into doing this a year ago..booking the table as part of a vow renewal...and I wanted to include our children (knowing, full well, the cost involved).

I politely inquired, explaining we would be booking the entire table, and that it was for a special occasion. My wife and I had dined their on our honeymoon, and I wanted to make it a part of our anniversary/vow renewal.

The person I spoke to said they would check, but that the policy was no one under 10 is admitted to the restaurant, and that they would call me back. They did and the answer was what I expected: No dice (explained in a much more polite and diplomatic fashion). The person went on to actually suggest some other options for our party.

We ended up at Jiko's and had a STELLAR time.

So, unless you're a VIP or reviewer (as explained by an earlier poster)....I think you're out of luck.
