OK, I need a Thesaurus to describe this experience.
First of all my DH and I are not experts on dining or food critics. We are a couple in our 50's who enjoy food and I love the travel channel and the food network. It took me 4 years to get this experience. Everyone kept asking what we were celebrating and we would just say LIFE.
We traveled by Disney bus from BWI to the Tram at the Magic Kingdom. Took the Tram to V & A. We loved the looks and whispers as my DH was in a suit and I wore a floor length black dress, with a lace 2 piece blouse and my pearls.
We were greeted immediately upon arrival. We were escorted through a dark beautiful restaurant with a harpist playing to the kitchen, through the kitchen to a small alcove. We were introduced to our Chef Aimee' from Puerto Rico. Immediately she told my DH he was at home and to ditch the suit jacket. He was immediately in love with her. Shetold us about herself and her experience as a Chef and we toasted and she left to go back into the kitchen. She did introduce the Sou Chefs (8) and their stations.
We watched and ate for 3 hours. Aimee' introduced all courses (10) and talked about the ingredients. I will give you a brief overview of my menu. My DH was different for about 4 courses.
Amuse Bouche: Yellowtail Snapper, Butternut Squash Creme, Shrimp in Kataifu, Maine Lobster. A+ What a way to start a meal!
#2 Buffalo with fennel, radishes and Blood orange Vinaigrette A
#3 Crab Stuffed Squash Bloom with Grape Must Mustard A++
#4 Poulet Rouge with Duck Consomme' and Chanterelles A
#5 Veal with Ratatouille Jam and Potato Gnocchi A
#6 Foie Gras with Fuji Apples B (Not a Foie Gras Fan)
#7 Kobe Beef (Australian and Japanese) and Short Ribs. Japanese Kobe
the True Kobe, this came with Ox tail Jus A ++
#8 Cheese: Before the entree I was ready to "bust" but the cheeses with honey, figs and mango settled all the protein we had prior. A
#9 Dessert: Strawberry Sorbet, Mango Panna Cotta, Banana Gateau I give this a A for the Banana Dessert and a A+ for presentation
#10 Chocolate: Dark Chocolate Pyramid (B+ I do not like my chocolate this rich) Chocolate Souffe' (A+ it was a Souffe!). Chocolate ice cream with a Puff pastry (B+)
OK, we do not drink coffee but we had to see this coffee press. Reminded me of a "Bong!" or a Tea press I have at home. Coffee was strong but at least we experienced everthing.
#11 We ended the evening with our menus, a rose, a chocolate covered liquor pitted cherry and an escort out by the Chef.
Overall this was a once in a life time experience that my DH and I will never forget. The food and service exceeded our expectations. Aimmee' was full of energy and passion for cooking. Technical skills are one thing but when you can marry ingredients together and the food is "porn" to your mouth then what words can describe.................OMAG I have been watching to much Iron chef and Top Chef!
