As per the title, Uverse has finally made the 5 house swing and is now available at my house.

We currently have Brighthouse Cable for everything (aka Time Warner) and are thinking of making the switch to Uverse.

What are your experiences with Uverse? Do you love it? Hate it?

The current deal available includes a $375 Visa Card for signing up. Do you know of any other deals that are better?

Thanks for your input in advance!!!

There were some 'hiccups' when we first got it, right when service was first available here, but it's been a few years with no trouble now. DH never had trouble with Brighthouse when he lived downtown, but u-verse is much better than our other option here, which is comcast.

We love it. We had so many problems with the dish going out with every storm. I did just get a notice they are raising my rates but I am not switching

I download a lot of movies. With Comcast I got a warning for going over 250GB/month bandwidth and they threatened to ban our Internet for a year if we went over again. I downloaded a bandwidth monitor to make sure I didn't exceed the limit. U-Verse offers true unlimited bandwidth. In the past 30 days I've used 496GB of bandwidth without a peep from them. That's the good part.

The bad part is that they advertise a 12MB speed, which I was really looking forward to, but in reality they are slower than 4MB and it took a lot of effort to get that speed, which is slower than our Comcast connection was. Still, it's a tortoise and rabbit deal, we are slower but do far more in the long run. I just wish we could get even half of their advertised speed.

As far as television quality it's no different than Comcast was and a negligible difference in price. It may be more stable than a dish but if you are switching from cable the only reason I would bother is if you were mad at your cable company and didn't want to give them your business anymore.

Another little issue for technogeeks is that with a cable connection you can use a tv with a QAM tuner to pick up HD channels without a cable box and free of charge. U-Verse is basically an IP address so this trick doesn't work with that. You need a box for each set. We are cancelling a box today because we were paying $9/month for a guest room that rarely gets used. Any guests can watch movies instead or surf the web because we have a DVD player and a pc with a wireless card hooked up to it.

We would like to try it but we have 7 TV's in our house of 6. Each additional TV is $5.00 a month for hook up. It would cost more for us to try Uverse so we have elected not to switch.

If you use the DVR feature to rewind or pause live tv, you may not like it. Right now, the only tv that you can do that is on the main one that is connected to the box. To use that feature on the other tvs would require that you record the program that you're watching. For this reason only, we didn't pursue getting it.

My neighbors have it and all of them have had billing problems. The bills here are combined with the land line and internet so that may be part of the reason for the problems.

We have Dish Network and even with the horrible snow storm that we had this weekend, we didn't loose service for one minute.

We had major issues with it. Our cable digitized constantly, and our internet dropped its connection numerous times a day. I googled the issues we were having at the time, and I found that I wasn't alone.

Within a week, we had them come back out, restore our DSL connection, and had Dishnetwork come reinstall the satellite.

I am very happy with them. We previously had Comcast and due to too many splits of the cable (we have an old house) we would constantly have the internet drop out. Comcast wouldn't do anything - we would have to rewire the house ourselves!

So when Uverse came along we switched. We pay slightly more, but we are getting more. Yes, only the main DVR can pause live TV, but we work around it by recording things if we are on another TV so we can pause. The internet is slightly slower, but for us, we're happy that we don't lose it for hours/days at a time.

Love, love, love it!!! I wish that we hadn't waited so long to get it. This is the first time we have really been able to optimize our HD TV. The "high def" channels that we had with Time Warner cable were a complete joke. We actually used over the air antennas to get a better HD signal. As far as pausing and rewinding live tv - I guess I just don't get the importance, I have a 2 year old so anything that we REALLY want to watch gets DVRed. I would rather skip the commercials anyway. We also have att cell service, but we didn't combine b/c we are grandfathered on an old family plan that we have had for many years and I didn't want to risk losing it. As far as I know we haven't had any billing issues (DH pays the bills).

Compared to what we were paying for cable, we pay slightly more but we gained Starz, Encore, Showtime, and TMC; we also quadrupled the HD channels that we had with cable. I also love being able to access the DVR online, we couldn't do that with cable. DH loves the sports access and being able to view the stats of all the games. So yeah, I'm a fan :thumbsup2

RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

I just gave up on uverse. The product is great. The customer service is AWFUL!

When I went through my divorce 2 years ago, I switched service into my name. A few days later, my now ex-husband called and had it disconnected. They left me in a life-threatening situation for a week and a half without 911 service. Still can't figure out how they can flip a switch and disconnect, but reconnection takes a week and a half.

Fast forward to last year, when I referred a friend and was promised a $150 Visa gift card. I fought every step of the way for it, only to have it arrive after it had expired. Nobody could do anything to reissue or reactivate it.

Last month, I needed to add 2 boxes, which they promised I could do at any time when I signed up. Nope. $7/month each. That was the last straw. I have now cancelled and switched to cable.

I've been with U-verse (and gave the incumbent, Charter Communications, the proverbial boot) for about 2.5 years, now -- never looked back (in spite of Charter sending me a "love to have you back" letter, every other week).

That's a lot of TV's -- are you sure you're not my SIL in South County (she won't go for U-verse for that same reason...TV in the kitchen, living room, garage, you name it)?

Also, I received a postcard from AT&T on Friday - it seems they will be raising the rates for U100 and above by 5 bucks per month starting in February. I don't like it, but I can deal with it, given the alternative.
