With the success of DVD and DVC do you think that other theme parks will get into the act like Universal or SeaWorld? or maybe Busch Gardens? It seems that this would be logical. (well, at least to me;) ). I don't know if the have the space or not, or maybe it doesn't fit into there game plan. I don't think I'd buy there, but other people would. Just a thought.

Joe, at first thought I would think it would be a good idea. The only problem, is that a DVC family can go to WDW for a week or more without leaving Disney property, and a UVC family would have to supplement. Granted, UVC members would have plenty to do in Orlando, but part of the charm of DVC is staying on property, and being in your own little world without having to leave (at least for me).

Joe, here's a link to a thread that was on the Rumors & News forum last summer about this very topic. Universal clearly intends to enter the timeshare market. While I know most here strongly prefer Disney, but there are many people out there who actually prefer Universal.

We think of Disney as four theme parks, two water parks, DD, many resorts, golf & mini-golf, perhaps some sports interests. Others think of Universal as two theme parks, plus Sea World (perhaps Discovery Cove and/or Busch Gardens too?), Wet N Wild (perhaps the water park near BG too?), CityWalk, three hotel resorts, and the I-Trolley linking everything to the golf & mini-golf (and other) attractions of I-Drive, near the Convention Center. It may not have the same self-contained feel as Disney, but multi-park Flex Passes and APs do seem to sell well so a lot of people must like them.

With the onsite perks offered at Universal's resort hotels (including FOTL access for all guests) and the prospect of decent transportation options, I think a Universal timeshare would sell very, very well. Offsite timeshare resorts in the area have sold well and Universal has shown an increasing ability to apply theming to their projects. It will be interesting to see what happens with this in the coming years.

I agree that a Universal "timeshare" would probably be successfull. However aren't they starting to fall behind? Disney had had 10+ years at this and nobody else has tried? They must see how these things sell and the demand for them is increasing. It just strikes me as odd that they haven't even announced plans yet to build..I wonder if they have the room?
