I want to combine DLR with one of the fall Baja sailings next year. Sailings are 10/4, 10/11, and 10/18, we would do 2-3 parks PRIOR to sailing. Which would you recommend?

Do you mean you are doing 2-3 park days before sailing?
If so I would choose the 18th...
The weekend of the 4th will be Gay Days...very busy. The weekend of the 11th will have AZ school breaks, CHOC Walk and Columbus Day. I feel like the 18th will be the lesser of three evils.

I personally think the 4th would be the best of those dates. The 11th is right between Utah's and Arizona's break. Just because Utah's break doesn't start until the 16th, don't think that families don't pull their kids out for the whole week to go to Disneyland. (Many, many do). So on the 11th, you'll have the first of the Utah Fall break people and the tail end of the Arizona fall break people. And the 18th is right in the middle of Utah's break and will be busy too.
Opps, Forgot about Gay Days. It will be busy any of those times. Could you go after your cruise instead? I imagine the park will be less busy the next week.
As previous posters have said "fall break" for the Alpine district (which is currently the largest district in Utah) is the 16th - 20th, this is the first year in recent history that our district has taken their break to overlap UEA so expect A TON of Utah people in the parks!
My kids will have 10/16 & 17 off, we're headed to WDW! I get a little tired of the Y and U shirts, hats, and whatnot in the parks when Utah escapes to Disney
