Yes. Just remember to use the ticket at least once prior to doing the upgrade. If you get a CM that will not price bridge, either ask for a supervisor or take the ticket back and go to a different location to do the upgrade.
Yes, but a better bridge may be available from either parksavers.com or officialticketcenter.com . If you know you are bridging to an AP and aren't using the ticket for park admissions- just buy the one with the biggest price difference between the 3rd party seller and Disney. Last time I checked, the biggest difference was $48.00. Don't remember which reseller it was- but might be worth it to you to do the math. Be sure to use the ticket the first time at a main park and not one of the WPM locations, as if you do then you would have to upgrade to a PAP. When I was checking (about 2 weeks ago), the biggest differences in price between Disney and the resellers all had the WPM option.
Yep- both are recommended by touringplans- as well as UT. They also have a ticket calculator to make it easy to see which tickets are the best deal- but you have to be a subscriber to use it.
