I was planning on bringing traveler's checks on the cruise and paying the bill at the end with them. Does anyone have any advice or opinions about doing this. It was a hard situation becuase I don't turn 18 until June 25th and I begin my vacation on June 30th so it's not really enough time to get a credit card from my bank in time. I called DCL and they said that paying with TC was an option and I was just wondering if any of you have any thoughts or experiences. Thanks! :earboy2:

If you don't have a CC registered, you will probably need to put a deposit down when you first board to be able to draw on. Not sure about that though. Do you have a debit card with your bank account now? You could link that & then go down to GS to make payments with the TCs during the cruise.

Well when I called DCL they sayed then when I board the ship I can give them $400 in TC or so and then whatever I don't spend or if I need more I can pay when checking out. They said that this was a good way to regulate how much you spend. I was just wondering if anyone had any problems using this method.

I had a similar experience.

However, I put down a credit card, and about every other day I would go to the Front desk and pay off my accumulated balance with travellers cheques.

This way, I did not have a big balance at all when I got off.

I last went the morning before we got off. I heard and saw that the night before the lines are horrendous!

Hope this helps.

I gave about $500 in traveller checks on the first day. Stopped at the desk shortly after boarding the ship, signed over the checks, went on the ressie rush. Took less than 15 minutes.

Thanks for the help. My friend thought this wasn't a good idea but your advice helped my figure out what to do.
Thanks!
