Using tickets before I check in?

If I buy a WDW package with tickets, but I'm in Florida visiting friends for a few days before my stay, can I get and use my park tickets before my package starts? All of the use days will be within 14 days, I just want to use my first park day before my Disney stay. I figured one of you would know! Thanks!

You can stop at any Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location and activate your package tickets up to 10 days prior to your scheduled check-in date.
