We will be at OKW during the final episode of Survivor on May 3rd. If we bring a tape, can we program the OKW VCR's to tape the show while we're out?

My husband says of course we can. But I'm worried it won't work and I'll miss the grand finale!

BTW, I don't admit to our friends how hooked I am on this show!

If you can figure out how to program a VCR you are doing better than most of us!

VCR's are available in the 1BR and larger units, and are very capable of recording off air programs for those that know how to do it. I'd suggest a test beforehand to make sure you have everything figured out.

Enjoy!

We've never found any instructions, but they must have someone there that knows where to find them. Otherwise, you have three choices; bring along a machinne literate 10 year old, bring a really long tape and start it before you leave for the parks or send someone back to OKW to start the tape for you when it starts.

I can tell you the answer right now and then you don't have to worry about it:

Richard wins it all thanks to Sue being very mad and Rudy staying true to his word.....

Or do you mean Survivor II ? lol :D

In that case, just be sure the VCR isn't flashing 12:00 when you leave for the park.. :D

Seriously, I believe the OKW VCR's operate off a menu system from the remote control. You should be able to find the menu steps to set up a delayed recording. (you might also set up your VCR at home before you leave. That way, worse case, you'll have a copy when you get home)

Meanwhile, I predict it'll be either Colby, Elisabeth, Tina, Keith, or Rodger. You can bet your money on it.... ;)

I am in the same predicament as you as far as Survivor goes, and i refuse to miss it ... I know in a past experience (a few yrs ago) we tried to tape the disney channel, the one that shows the differant parks 24 hours a day and could not tape but...at BWV's last year we were able to tape BIG BROTHER (BORING!!) but just to be sure, I've put in my schedule to make sure we are in the room that nite that will be our R & R nite ;)

When you wish upon a star...DVC will take you far...anything your heart desires....will come your way

And you call yourselves Disney fans!???? Watching CBS instead of ABC???? I don't think the VCR will record any channels but ABC, Disney Channel and ESPN. :D

There used to be a note that said to call maintenance for help on recording. I let a tape run and it recorded but I'm not sure how to pre-program without instructions.

There was a show we wanted to see when we were at OKW last year. I used the directions on the green card on the counter, but it was very confusing. I have a Sony VCR at home, so that helped and I was able to do it.

I noticed when we took the tour of VWL (at Boardwalk) that they had a Video Player rather than a recorder in the living room (you can tell it's smaller). I asked the guide about it, but she didn't know if the actual rooms were setup that way.

We can program the VCR if the green card with instructions is there. If not, we call maintenance (much to DH's embarassment). But if you have to call maintenance, do it at a time you will be hanging out in the room. They don't respond right away (maybe 30 to 45 minutes).

PS I wouldn't miss last episode either.

Sony VCR's Model 650 are very easy to program.

1. Hit menu on the remote or the VCR
2. Hit the #1 on the keypad or select on the VCR
3. Select the date then arrow over
4. Set the time leaving room at both beginning and end for time differences then arrow over
5. Set the channel

Step five is the tough one. Set it to tape whatever channel CBS is.

Be sure to test this before hand. Email me if you want better instructions.

I taped the disney park/dvc/advertisement channels when we were there in July. I got something like 20 hours of tape but the quality was very poor. It must have been an old vcr because the recording flickers with snow every few seconds(tracking doesn't fix it) Test it before hand and if it doesn't work right get another one from houskeeping.....spruce

wow!!! you are my hero!! can you fix things around the house, too? LOL

Can you tell I am impressed? My DH would say, call Jeff (our IT guy at work) and tell him to tape it for us while we're on vacation... :)

I agree with spruce. The quality was VERY poor! The VCR's are great but they must never clean them. You may want to bring a cleaning tape if you plan on keeping the recording for future use.(1 more thing to add to the list). The quality got WORSE when we got them home and watched them again. I have 6 hours of very poor disney park advertisements.

We were there a few weeks ago and decided to rest in the room during Survivor (after all by that time in the week you are READY for a rest!). We ordered in Pizza for dinner and had a nice relaxing evening. Our plan was to go to Pleasure Island after Survivor was over...but we were too tired and just stayed in!! It was GREAT! Sometimes we get so carried away that we forget that part of vacation is for relaxing not just doing the parks commando-style!! Have fun!

Thank for all your replies! I have made a copy of Tarzanman's instructions and plan to back up with a pre-programmed tape at home.

Now I can spend my time worrying about important stuff like work! (not)
