Using the Bus without actually staying on site?

I understand that the busses are for those staying on site, but I have a question about it. My husband and I are in town visiting my uncle and we are here for a job interview. We have a free day today and we are either going to head out to International Dr. or we may go to DTD. My husband has never been to Disney World. I was wondering if we could take a bus to one of the resorts to check it out so we can see if it is something we would like staying at sometime. Is this something that we can do or do we have to show our KTTW card? I stayed on site in 2003 but I can't remember if we had to show our resort keys, I don't think we did.

P.S. So I don't get flamed or anything, we don't plan on using their pools or any of their things, we just want to see the resort.

Thanks!

Nope, they don't check for tickets or anything else on the bus.

Hope you can talk your DH into a stay sometime!

No one checks resort IDs or park tickets to be certain that you are "entitled" to use the Disney transportaton.
Take a bus from DTD to visit a resort, be aware though that the buses do not go from resort to resort. So, if you want to visit more than one resort you will have to go from DTD to a resort, visit that resort, get on a bus to a park, then get off that bus and get another bus to a resort and so on. Alot of your time will be taken up with transferring from location to location.

I'd take the bus to one of the monorail resorts and then use the monorail to visit the other ones on the loop. Maybe take the boat launch from Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge and try to have a late lunch at Whispering Canyon. It would be a fun way to spend a day!

You can use Disney's transportation. Way back in the dark ages when I first visited, the transportation was only for Disney resort guests. that was quickly dropped as Disney does want day visitors to be able to move around and do exactly what you want to do - visit a resort in hopes of staying there in the future.

I'd go to Downtown Disney, get a bus to one of the Epcot resorts and see all five of them. Then take one of their buses to the Magic Kingdom and see the three monorail resorts and take the boat over to Wilderness Lodge. You will have knocked out nine resorts with two bus rides, one monorail loop and a boat ride. Makes for a very nice day.

There's also a boat from DTD to Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside. We were never asked to show id/tickets at any of the bus stops or boat landings last time we stayed onsite. Infact, my parents, who were not staying on site, parked at our resort and road the boat to DTD with us.
