Using Priceline for flights?

We usually book our flights to Orlando with Southwest, but prices are more than double right now! We're considering Air Tran, but it's still a few hundred more than usual, and we'd have to fly out of an airport further away from home. We've used priceline for hotels and car rentals, but never for flights. Any advice? Can you really get cheap flights?

Well, you might save money...

But you must be prepared. You are going to get the 'leftovers' In other words if you want to fly down to MCO on Saturday and home on Sunday assume you will fly out as late as possible on Saturday and home at the crack of dawn on Sunday. Now that MIGHT not happen, but it's what you need to accept before you book.

Also, realize that if there are issues the airline is going to see that PL booking and you go at the bottom of the 'rebook' list!

I won't do it, I want more control!

Even worse you might depart at noon and be stuck with a 4 hour layover in Atlanta.

I have never used Priceline for flights and never will. There are just too many variables when flying to blindly accept an itinerary.

Thanks for your input. That settles it for me - I'll book my flights on my own!!
