For those who have used priceline in the past for airfare, do you think this is the case. the higher you bid the better your flight will be? i am able to get round trip from ohio to orlando for 75 a person b4 tax? is that flight goin to be the worst? they say they book nonstop first but for that price i would think we would get all red eyes on departure day and early morning flights on the way home
so if any one has any advice or experience please let me know
thanks kerri

Just from looking at prices/times. Cheaper flights usually leave late in the day or real early(always can get the best price on NWA for the flight that gets you in to MCO at 11:30 pm, or the 6:40 am flight out).

Since we travel with a 5 & 11 yr old, I'll pay the extra for a more reasonable hr.

I have used priceline for hotels only.

The lack of control is the main reason I won't do PL for airfare. You can easily wind up with VERY EARLY or VERY LATE flights. How do you know you can get it for $75? Basically you won't know until you give them the cc # and hit buy, then you may or may not get the ticket.
If you are taking small kids there is NO way I would do it!

the 75 dollar bid was taken and then it gave me a total with tax, etc. all i have to do now is give cc number for the flight info. i am guessing i am doin it right

I am not sure what you are doing. I just went to PL and tried this.

Did you click on Name your own price? (Not the thing that just opens up)

Anyway I did it and put in the $75 and my name. The next screen may LOOK like you have the tickets (it shows you the fact that you are flying from ATL to MCO in my example on the dates in question) but if you read the bottom of the page you see this
Your airline tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-changeable.
• Your tickets will be round-trip, coach class tickets issued on one of Priceline's partner airlines. You must fly on the flights assigned to you. Upgrades and standbys are not available. If you do not take your outbound flight, the airlines will automatically cancel the remainder of your reservation. If any part of the ticket is unused it has no value after ticketed departure time.
• Name Your Own Price tickets issued through Priceline are not eligible for frequent flyer miles. Priceline customers are protected by the same airline regulations extended to all passengers, including protection against overbookings and baggage loss.
If we find an airline that accepts your price, we'll immediately purchase your tickets using the payment information you provided.

Below that you put in your CC info. So you won't know if you got the ticket until you click buy.

The other thing is that there are NO changes on these tickets and some airlines will not pre-assign seats! (Have you read www.betterbidding.com or www.biddingfortravel.com)

Priceline airfare will get you about the worst possible flights. Particularly to popular destinations.
CarolA is right about the way it works . . . you really need to go to biddingfortravel before you attempt to use priceline for anything.

thanks all for you advice but now my question is this...i have searched all things but the bidfortravel web site...its alitle confusing. but anyway. priceline is my last hope for getting a flight cheap (in budget) for my up coming trip. i am willing to take what ever flight i can get. because i dont want to drive 18hrs alone with 2 kids. i am goin to look at that website now and try to figure it out

Try SW. Try a search engine like kayak.com I'd be surprised if PL will get you a flight, even with horrible times, for much less than you can get on your own.

Carol is right, PL will accept a $75 bid, but that doesn't mean you bid will "WIN"

An airline might not assign PL customers seats, that means you'll have middle seats and won't be sitting together.

ok after all the advice from all..i did this. priceline DIDNT work out thank god and i did lots of lookin around and found this
nwa out of indy (90mins from my house) non stop good times there and back for 411.87 (for 3) 137.29 a piece. not bad i didnt think

I think that's good. At least you know how much you spent and what your times are before agreeing to anything. I would never use PL for airfare becasue you never know what time you would end up with!

Thats a good price out of Indy. i've gotten a little lower but it takes luck. When is your trip??

my tirp is 4-24 thru 5-1. i had the hotel booked for 4-22 thru4-29 but the airfare was better on the other days
