So does anyone have any experience using points to stay at the DLH or the PP at Disneyland? Thinking of making a impromptu visit and we are in the last four months of our use year so we can't use points to stay at the GCH. the points needed per night seems high, but we have them to spare.

You certainly can, and should try to use your points at VGC. I'm not sure if there is availability, as that is another matter.
The four moth rule would pertain to PP and DLH, not the GC.

Actually the 4 month rule does not apply to the DL resorts but I agree that the OP should try for VGC since the 4 month rule also does not apply to any DVC resorts.

I have used points at PP and it was easy to do. One thing to be aware of is that using points at either of the hotel turns them into reservation points. If you need to cancel they would stay as reservation points and could not be used at any DVC resort.

Well I guess you learn something new every day..

Thanks

Some have speculated that will change now that VGC has opened. I think it might take another DVC out there before that would happen but they already have eliminated the ability to book Concierge at PP and DLH so they are making some changes.

We stayed at DLH on points; it was nice!

If you can't get anything at the Villas, I'd definitely go for PPH or DLH. I actually like PPH better, but I haven't stayed there on point, so don't know how the value would *feel* to me.

Ohh man I am such a newbie! We have been DVC owners since September and I thought that "no booking and traveling in the last four months of use year" applied to DVC resorts too. Sweet! I'll be calling to check on availability at the VGC for April! Thanks for the info everyone!
