using points to go to other places

does anyone ever go anywhere else other than disney with their points??

we just signed papers today for okw and am very excited love the mouse but would also love to travel to other places too

I do have a few questions:

how many points are we talking about let say i wanted to go to aruba/marriott for one week- one bedroom during feburary

How does this work do I
call the dvc rep and they would take care of it and also i know that i would be charged a 95 dollar fee or do i need to call someone else??

I have used my points a few times to visit other places. So far all in the concierge collection

NYC I believe it was the Sheraton Murray Hill
Washington DC Mandarian Oriental
London UK I forgot the name of the hotel

All 3 times the transaction was very easy. Each hotel was definitely deluxe caliber. I Think the majority view here is to not use your points at other places, due to the fact the best value for them is at a dvc resort but hey we loved each hotel we stayed at so I feel we did get the best value for them.

Don't know how many points you need for Aruba, check out the dvc website. Yes, you call ms and they will look up availability. you will be billed the $95 bucks as soon as you make the reservation so you'll need a cc handy.

I used my points to go to Washington DC. I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental. I would have never been able to afford to stay there if it wasn't for my DVC.

To the OP,
I assume that is high season in Aruba so it will take 160 points for a 1 BR.
