Dh and I have decided that we are going to buy into SSR 100 pts as our 1st dvc. After we have paid it off (less than a year) we want to buy a smaller 100 pt contract at BLT.

Should we have both contracts with the same uy's? We would have 11month booking advantage at both resorts. So say our uy is March and we want to stay at BLT for a week in a one bedroom (201 points). Sense both resorts have the same uy and they are both my home resorts can we combine the points and book BLT with our ssr points at 11 months out? Or will we have to wait until 7 months out to book the rest of the points? Does that even make sense?

Totally different question now. Sense we are buying into ssr with Disney (whole nother story with dh) and we get the 2009 points when would they actually expire. I know we can bank them as soon as we sign the contract/appear in our account. But then what? We are not planning on going to Diseny next year because the kids want to do a cruise. But we will be going back to Disney in 2012. So I guess my question is what would be the lastest we could use our 2009 points before we would lose them?

Thanks

No, points from different resorts can not be combined until the 7 month mark. If you have 100 BLT points, that is all you can use at 11 months, unless you have banked or borrow other BLT points.

Same with SSR. The benefit, however, to having the same UY (and titled the same way) is that all the points stay in the same membership. At 7 months, you can combine them and use them as though it was one big contract.

When the UY's are different, it is a brand new membership. The only way to use the points together for a single night is to transfer between the two. The other way to use them is to book some nights with one contract, some with the other, and have your reservation linked.

IMO, unless you have a lot of different travel times that make owning different UY's beneficial, I think having one is easier (we had two and didn't like it).

Good luck!

No matter how contracts are done (same use year or not), you can use only BLT points at BLT 11 months out and only SSR points at SSR 11 months out. They cannot be mixed for a single reservation at any one resort until 7 months out.

If you are an owner and then add-on through Disney at your own or another resort thereafter, you will always get the same use year from Disney. If you buy that second contract in the resale market, it could have any use year.

If you get 2009 points, you can bank into 2010 use year but then they must be used by the end of that 2010 use year because they cannot be banked again. Example, buy now get August use year (could be any other one too) and get Aug 2009 points and bank them into 2010 use year. Those banked points must be used for a trip between 8/1/10 and 7/31/11 or they will be lost forever.

You mentioned that you will but 100 SSR points from Disney as your initial contract? I'm not sure they sell that low for an initial buy-in. It maybe more like 160 points. You can but a 100 Pt contract from resale, though and ave the same membership benefits.

If you want to get 2009 points with your purchase, you will be limited to a Use Year month that is still in its 2009 Use Year -- Aug (if you purchase by Jul 31), Sep (until Aug 31), Oct (until Sep 30) or Dec (until Nov 30). Banking the 2009 points will make them valid for stays in the 2010 UY for the whichever UY you purchase: Aug UY: 8/1/10-7/31/11, Sep UY: 9/1/10-8/31/11, Oct UY: 10/1/10-9/30/11, Dec UY: 12/1/10-11/30/11.

Disney has been offering 100 point buy in for a while. SSR and AKV for over a year and recently, they are even allowing it for BLT and VGC.
