Using points on weekends?

Before I decide to use points on weekends I always price it out versus the 25% DVC discount to see which is better. Most of the time when you stay at WDW there is still value using points on weekends but HH is a different story. We stayed in a Grand Villa in June at HH and if I used points I was getting a value of around $5 per point. We took the cash discount.

We pretty much always stay 7 nights Sat to Sat. Our last trip was unusual, we stayed from Thurs to Wed, 6 nights. We have stayed a night before or after the 7 nights in another resort, but we almost always use 7 nights worth of points. We own 627 points so it is easy to use them for weekends. We did plan to stay all 8 nights at DVC this last trip then had to change to 6 nights due to a change in my work sched.
Our next booked DVC trip is in a 2 br for 7 nights Sat to Sat.

During vacation planning, my DW and I agree to disagree on weekend points. She would like to stay longer and I try to save points. I prefer flying in Sunday morning and flying out Friday night to maximize park time. Since we go to WDW twice a year whatever we miss this time we will be sure to hit on the next trip. We have always stayed in a 1-BR but perhaps I can offer to stay in a studio and stay for a weekend. The "strategery" of point saving is complex but rewarding when done right -- 6 nights at BWV (1BR) in June 2006, 4 nights at GF in Dec 2006 and 5 nights (Sun-Thurs) at OKW GV in April 2007. We have 310 points.
