I know this would be historically an unfavorable use of points. But since they have enforced the restrictions on renting out and transferring I was wondering what my fellow DVC members thoughts are today.

Thanks.

I think the reduced points required for the Disneyland Resorts make them a much better deal than they have in the past - We used points for a stay there earlier this year and enjoyed it very much.

I do not feel the same way about any other non-DVC options at this time, so I would pay cash if any of hem appeal to me.

But those are my opinions - if you want to use your points for them, just go for it. Even though I would not advise anyone to buy who plans to use the non-DVC options on a regular basis, once you have the points, the equation changes a bit.

Best wishes -

We used points for just that combination this summer. It was a good use of points, IMO, for Disneyland. And, although we enjoyed the Del and it is a lovely resort; I regret spending all those points for that stay. We had a few problems there, which may have tainted our view of things, but I don't know if I would use points for the resort again unless I just had plenty or was about to lose points.

We are planning on a trip to California next summer and are using points for Grand Californian. I think the value of those points is OK.

We also looked at some conciergie hotels, Monterey, SF, Coronado - but when you figure the points x the maintenance fees and then add in the booking fee ($95) and the parking fees we decided Holiday Inns would be just fine!

I've used points at the Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian. As west coasters we don't always have the time to get to WDW.
