using outside photographer & fees...

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that there was a hefty fee Disney charges if you use and outside photographer or videographer. Does anyone know if A) this is true and B) how much is it?? Thanks a million!

Well, the answer is yes and no. What the fee is for is for an escort to follow the photographer around. You know make sure he doesn't do anything Disney disapproves. I am not sure what the fee is, though I don't think it is a big as you might think. The no part to this answer depends on the photographer. There are certain photographers that do Disney weddings so much; they know the rules, and Disney will allow them to go without an escort. You would need to talk to your coordinator to find out if your photographer is one of those people.

I know that they dont charge the outside vendor fee for Randy Chapman. He has done too many disney weddings and they all know him well.

The charge is 30 dollars I believe. Im not sure if thats by the hour or not.

There is an escort fee for using an outside photographer although I don't think it is hefty at all... I think like $90 for the first 3 hours and maybe 20 each additional hour, and that is if Disney even charges you for it. If it is a photographer who has photographed Disney weddings before then they generally don't assess the charge, although they can. Who did you have in mind for photography?

Haha I bet I was told that too-- I just probobly divided it to make it sound cheaper to myself-- I do that sometimes!

Thanks so much for replying guys I want to cry im so happy right now! Lol...DF and I have been going on the assumption we were going to be paying around $1250 extra in Disney fees for an outside photographer (another disey bride told us this..guess its an old requirement)...but I REALLY don't like the disney photography...but this makes it SO much better!! We hope to use Randy Chapman. Any word on how far out we should book him?? Thanks a million again

I would call him right now if you know your date, even if it is tenative. He is very understanding of the way Disney works. There is even a bride on this board that booked him for two different dates until she knew which one she would have. I would imagine he used the deposit from the second date as payment for the actual date.

Thanks I was thinking to book him now...but wasn't shure how flexible he was due to me not having a confirmed date/time until December. Thanks for letting me know! I'm going to call

my wedding isn't for 20 months and i have randy booked already. he knows the date isnt for sure yet and as long as he is available on the other date ((if we have to pick one)) then he will do it. if not he will refund the deposit.
