Using Monorail in the morning

1st time staying at DLH & using the monorail in a few weeks. How is it to use the monorail in the morning? Will have our tickets already, I was planning to be at the turnstiles 30 minutes prior to opening, but now I'm wondering if it might be better to use the monorail, but I'm not sure how that works 1st thing in the morning.

From what I've read, it is hit or miss. Using the monorail to enter the parks is really only convenient if you want your first stop to be Tomorrowland, and it isn't always guaranteed to be open at park opening. Also, Main Street *usually* opens about 30 minutes prior to the rope drop, so, for example, if the park opened at 9, there could be a bunch of people already lined up inside of the park at 8:30, whereas you, entering via the monorail, couldn't board until at least 9. They'd have the advantage of getting to that first ride much quicker than you! If you do decide to enter using the monorail, however, they will just scan your ticket at the monorail station like they would at the turnstiles.

IMO, if you really, REALLY want to be in the Park as soon as it opens, in order to get on as many rides as possible, entering via Monorail isn't the way to go! As sonnyjane said, you'd enter the Park through Tomorrowland, making it necessary to...walk at a brisk yet safe pace to Fantasyland. (I'm assuming you'd want to go to Fantasyland first, as that's where all the rides are that start getting the loooooooooooooooooooong lines about 20 minutes after Park opening...) Also, the Monorail often has delays, so you may well end up waiting at the station for who-knows-how-long whilst the Park fills up after rope drop.

Now, taking the Monorail back to the hotel, that's nice after a long day

Secodn that! Once you're there it will become abundantly clear that there isn't any advantage getting monorail. best way to be in earlier is to walk just a littel further down to the regular entrance...if you're there 30 mins early, you'll be all set!

It's awful tempting if you want to do Nemo or the Matterhorn first, because they are fairly close to the Monorail entrance. It worked pretty well for us on a few occasions. HOWEVER.... last time we were there we waited in the monorail line for them to start boarding for opening......... only to be told at the very last minute that it wouldn't be operating for a bit. So after being up and OUT early..... we still had to book it on down through Downtown Disney to the end of the long lines just entering the park. Won't be doing that again........

Last time we went in March, all 4 times we did MM, the monorail arrived roughly the same time we got to Nemo.
