For those of you that fly during the week of Thanksgiving or Christmas and use miles (specifically on Southwest) do you find that the amount of points needed for your flight is outrageously high or is it on par with any other time of the year? Is it safe to say that I should book the day that the flights are released?

We book Thanksgiving week on SW (from PVD) and yes you need to book the minute the schedule opens, this will be the lowest price you'll see. This year I found the flight prices up considerably from years past. Also when in the past it was about 60pts to the dollar, now it is more like 72. My ticket was 4k more points than I paid last year.

Thank you! That's what I figured. I think we are going to skip the holidays and go another time of year. It was just a 1/2 brained thought. Never been at Christmas or Thanksgiving and I think I don't want to go
