using Mears from HRH to airport

I have a 12:15 flight from Orlando on Monday the 11th and Mears wants to pick me up at 8:30am is this the norm and should I just take a taxi and not have to sit at the airport for 3 hours? I remember using disney transportation 3 years ago and it was the same way 3 hours before flight, it is a lot of fun trying to keep 4 and 6 year old entertained at an airport for 3 hours.

I would go early. It takes a while to get to the airport, and you don't want to run into any security lines, or issues. Being in the airport is no fun...but when we were all done checking in...we walked through all the shops, and had a little breakfast.

Is Mears just picking up your family? Or are they picking up other people from your hotel as well? Other people from other hotels?

When I stay at Disney hotels, Tiffany Towncar picks me up two hours before my flight. (They pick up our group only, and go straight to the airport.)

I can't remember if they picked us up earlier when we stayed at a Universal hotel.

The problem with getting to the airport early is -- most of the interesting shops are before you go through security, not after. So if you decide to go through security as soon as you get there, there isn't much exciting to look at while you wait.

Compare the prices. Sometimes Mears charges by the person. If you have 4 people, then a cab or Tiffany Towncar might actually be cheaper.

I'd take a cab. Being at the airport two hours in advance is plenty. Just do online check-in.

If Mears picks you up at 8:30, it is possible you'll be at the airport 3 1/2 hours before your flight. That is just silly.

Just me and my wife I think we will just take a cab if we leave bt 10 should that give us enough time? Once again our flight is 12:15

We did this in May and we were picked up at the Contemporary, then went to Wilderness Lodge, Poly then Grand Floridian. when we got to the airport we had just enough time to get a slice of Pizza, bathroom stop and by that time they were all ready loading our plane.
I thought 3 hours was way to long but we just made it.
