Hey! We are going for our honeymoon in October but was thinking of getting a limo once we arrive to Orlando, but wanted it to be a surprise for her. Is it ok to keep the ME tags and just grab them or are you suppose to cancel the ME?

Thanks!
Steve

Either don't tag the bags and pick them up at baggage or take a chance on getting your luggage in your room, after putting the ME tags on them, while not using the ME. No one really knows the answer, for sure, so you would be a good experiment to see if you get your baggage without taking the ME.

Personally, my research, some pretty good sources, says they will show up in your room, but the consensus is that they will not. Let us know if you tried my idea of tagging the luggage.

I really don't want to get in an argument here, but...why take the chance of not getting your luggage? I would just take the tags off and tell your gf/wife that you had heard some real horror stories about changes to DME, so didn't want them transporting your bags. Just to be on the safe side. We do not have definative word on whether or not your bags will get to your resort if you do not show up at the DME desk to checkin....up to you, but I wouldn't chance it.

After re-reading my post, it may have come off as confusing.

I wanted to leave the ME tags on the luggage but still pick up the luggage after we get off the plane and head for the limo.

My question was if I decide not to cancel the ME once we landed, is Disney going to be looking for my luggage? I had read that once you check in at the ME desk they contact your hotel to let them know you're on your way. I just don't want to cause any confusion. Worse comes to worse I'll just tell her my plan.

Thanks!
Steve

If you leave those yellow tags on your bags, they will get pulled before they ever reach the carousel for baggage claim. They are pulled 'behind' the scene, so to speak. So, no you can't grab them yourselves if they have the yellow tags on them. Sorry.

I don't think the Orlando airport has limousines just 'hanging around' waiting for customers. As far as I know, you need to reserve one in advance, so you can't just decide on landing that you want to take a limo.

Who's making the travel arrangements? As suggested above, just tell your fiancee the luggage tags didn't come, or there was a mistake and Disney's not going to be able to get the new paperwork to you before your trip.

With luggage tags, your luggage WILL be pulled before any bags are placed on the carousel; if you then don't check in with DME and have your vouchers scanned as you board your bus, your luggage could very well never leave the airport.

On the other hand, if you DON'T attach the tags you have two options:
1) Register for DME; give them your claim checks (or the numbers) and a description of your bags. CMs will pull your luggage and get it onto the DME trucks.
2) Register for DME; go to the luggage carousel, pick up your own bags and take them to the counter and then the bus with you. If you supposedly choose this option, instead when you come down the escalator there should be a chauffeur holding a sign with your name on it. THAT'S when you tell her you're going to Disney in style.

You would have to schedule the limousine prior to your arrival at the airport. Mears and Beeline shuttles have an airport concession, but you will have to pay top dollar if you wait until you land. Going online with a reputable company will get you a little better rate. When you talk about limousines, be sure to specify. Many companies throw town cars in the classification of a limousine. Most limousines are the stretched town car.
