We currently have points at the BW but are thinking about purchasing a few more at VB. If we use Interval for a timeshare xchange does it matter where your points are based? Would we be better off purchasing more BW points if we mainly want to use Inteval in the future?

I don't think it matters. All you need are the number of points they require, it doesn't matter which resort they are from. I only have done one trade with II and it was back when you had to reserve and deposit an actual week. I used my BWV points to reserve a week at VB and deposited that. I was able to get a great exchange.

Well, I am certainly not a timeshare expert, but I would not purchase DVC with the intent to trade often. I would think this would even be worse with Vero points, as VB has the highest fees.
I would only buy Vero points to specifically use at Vero Beach.

There are some savvy timeshare folks here that can give you some good advice...

Good luck, and WELCOME to the DISboards!!!

We are already members, just thinking of buying a few more points so we have enough to stay for a 2 week exchange anywhere on the interval list. Thanks for the tip about the annual dues though, I forgot VB was pricier than the others.

If your primary interest is to use II exchanges, there are timeshares far less expensive to accomplish that goal. You can easily find resale timeshares within the II domain that will save you thousands of $$ vs buying DVC points specifically to exchange.

If you actually plan to use the DVC points at DVC resorts and oiccasionally trade with the II component, then DVC may still be the better plan.

Just do the math and look at some other timeshare offerings for comparison. Some good advice may be found at www.tug2.net .

Enjoy!

I see what you are saying but I love Disney and I am sure we will keep staying there, but maybe not as frequently as we have done. we want to travel round a bit as well.
Also once you have bough into DVC it is hard to leave, after all it is such a fab place to visit isn't it, but that doesn't mean we should not go anywhere else!!

THE BIGGEST COST IS MAINTENANCE IN THE LONG TERM
IF YOU ARE USING FOR EXCHANGE ONLY BUT FOR USE IN EUROPE CHECK OUT CASH OR DOUBLE PTS WHICH IS WHAT YOU ARE CHARGED FOR EXCHANGE.
YOU MIGHT BE BETTER RENTING FOR EXCHANGE WHEN YOU NEED IT.
