Using gift card for Disney restaurant?

My girls' school sells Disney gift cards (along with many other gift cards) as a fundraiser. We buy the gift card and the school gets a certain percentage of the sale. So, I'm considering buying some Disney gift cards for our upcoming trip to use at the shops and restaurants on property (we are not doing the dining plan). It would be nice to not have to carry as much cash. My questions are:
1) Are their any shops, restaurants, etc. that won't take the Disney gift card?
2) When you use the gift card, does the receipt show the remaining balance?

I am pretty sure that the balance is shown on the reciept, and the only places i can think of offhand that wouldn't take the card is some of the kiosks. (the carts in the middle of 'nowhere'.)

SingleDad is correct - your balance does show on your receipt. And he is correct that the small carts (selling ice cream, etc.) do not take gift cards. During the Food & Wine festival, however, all the F&W kiosks take gift cards.

I use gift cards alot. Be sure to keep your original receipt as if you lose a card they can somehow cancel it and give you a replacement.

The Swan and Dolphin restaurants and some restaurants at Downtown Disney won't take Disney gift cards.

Charge everything on your room card, then pay off the balance with gift cards. We do this every trip. that way we dont have to keep track of how much is on the gift card!

Thanks for your help! We are not staying on property this time. We are giving Bonnet Creek a try since we are a family of 5. Sounds like we can use the gift cards everywhere but the snack kiosks. That works for me! Now I have to see how many dh will let me buy.
