Using GAD towards buying an AP?

I'm pulling some information from another thread and trying to see if this is correct. If I take a GAD voucher and exchange it for a one day pass, I enter the park with that ticket, exit back out, I can upgrade that ticket for an AP and receive $84.14 off of the price of the AP?

You really don't have to do it. They can do it right then and there. At least that is what they did for me. I got my renewal rate and the discount all at the ticket booth.

It doesn't have to be a renewal - it can be a first time AP purchase. And like wmharley said, you probably won't have to enter the park if you are buying an AP. The AP will be dated the day you redeem the voucher, so it doesn't matter if you actually use it that day, unlike the MYW ticket, which could be saved indefinitely if it wasn't used on the redemption date.

thanks for the info, that is really going to be a great savings for us! We have three GAD vouchers and need an AP for all three so we look to save $252 combined.

It's a great savings! Last August I used the "free birthday ticket" to buy my AP. This year I'll be using my GAD voucher to renew it

same as me. If they don't offer anything similar, I might either drop the passes or get the weekday one. I may do that one since next June 2011, the DS is 3 and my pass for what its worth, is expired then, so buying 3 SP is a bit too much, considering most of my trips are during the week and I could get 3 weekdays for the price of 2 SP.

Same here. We did not need to enter the park and come back out or get in another line. We just presented our GAD vouchers at the ticket window outside the park, and told the CM that we wanted to upgrade to APs. He did this on the spot and very efficiently. (We were at the IG entrance to EPCOT in March.)

Our friends upgraded GADs to 5-day MYW tickets at the ticket window outside of MK in February. All at once and on the spot, with no need to enter the park and either come back out or go to guest relations.
