When we last were at WDW, we weren't part of a FP+ testing group, so although we've been not that long ago, we've never used FP+. I confess I'm a little confused about how it is going to work with our DVC stays.

We have booked a split stay (AKV and VGF, if it matters, but I assume by then it won't) using our DVC points for May. I know FP+ will probably be fully live then, and I am trying to figure out what we'll need to do to take advantage of it by what dates. I am used to booking meals 180 days out. I am actually looking forward to booking a few fast passes as soon as it will let us, but I confess I don't quite understand what sort of tickets I'll need to have purchased in advance to do so.

Traditionally, we've bought an AP for years we'll make at least two trips, or we've bought multi-day passes for the number of days we'll need once we arrive at WDW. The thing is that we usually don't buy any sort of ticket until we're there. Am I correct in understanding that having a DVC room reservation isn't enough to let us book FP+ in advance?

Also, how much hassle will it be doing a split stay and trying to book for FP+, or does in not matter that we're switching resorts in the middle of the stay?

I'm doing a split stay in Dec. The second stay is DVC. I have MYW tix on first stay package and already had APs.

I had no trouble booking FP+ after a CM added our APs to my MDE account.

At first we were limited to FP+ for the number of days of the tix during any of the days of the two stays. It didn't matter that the tix were part of the package with the first stay. We could still book FP+ during days of the second stay.

Once the APs were added, we could book FP+ for all the days of our resort stays with no problem.

Of course, this is all testing and could change. pirate:

You will be able to customize your Magic Bands in a couple of months. You will get a set for each reservation, but you can use both sets for your entire trip. The bands simply have a chip that reads your MDEx profile in Disney's database. Either will work because they both read the same information.

At 60 days out you will be able to make FP+ selections. You will need to have your tickets linked to your MDEx profiles in order to get access to the FP+ system. At 60 days out, with tickets linked, you will be able to make FP+ selections for your entire trip. You will be limited to FP+s for the number of days on your tickets. Any kind of tickets will work (hoppers, one-park-per-day, annual passes, etc.)

That is correct. FP+ is tied to your tickets. If you want to make advance FP+ selections you will need to buy your tickets in advance. If you purchase them through Disney, make sure you ask for the Will Call delivery option (or choose it during an on line purchase). This will allow you to link the Will Call number to your MDEx account right away. If you choose to have vouchers delivered to your house you will need to wait until they arrive to link them to your profiles.

None at all. You will get FP+ selections for the number of days on your tickets. If you have APs you will get, in our experience, up to 14 days of FP+ selections. These will be linked to your MDEx account, not to your resort stay.

Hope that helps.
