I just want to be sure, we should be able to use our NY state EZ pass in place of a Sunpass in our rental car for getting to Disney from the Orlando airport and then driving out to Tampa, correct? Any special process?

I was able to use my MA EZ pass in FL. I went into my EZ pass account on my phone once I got the car and changed the car make, model, and plate number to the rental car. I think there was an option to say it was a rental. Just remember to take it out of the rental when you drop it back off! And put your car information back. I think there was also a date range I chose, it was simple enough. And since my transponder secures to my car with velcro, I bought some at a craft store and cut a few pieces before I left and stuck it on the rental car windshield.

We did the same without any issues. I forgot the Velcro to mount the transponder so we just threw it on the dash which worked find but rather annoying that it constantly slide around. Not a huge deal if you forget to mount it to the windshield.

Yep, used our PA EZ Pass in Sept with no issues, just had DH hold it up to the windshield as I drove through the toll area. I did log in and add the rental car to my account, not completely sure it is necessary. No need to change the car on the website, at least for PA there is a way to add a temporary car, my regular car info was still there.

I used my IL IPass in October. Added the rental car to my account from the parking garage and took it off when I dropped the car off. I'm sure this is an IL IT issue but it would allow me to designate it as a rental car but wouldn't let me pick the current date as the start date of the rental so I had to add it as regular car, not a rental. Otherwise it worked very well.

Agree with other posters. It's very easy to do. Make sure you know how to log into your account, set up the temp rental vehicle (you'll need the make/model/license plate #), and you're good. We have experienced at times a situation where you need to pull the rental out of the garage at MCO to get a signal to set it up through your phone/tablet, but they have a small parking area outside the rental garage to do that - apparently, it's a common issue!

If you didn't add the rental car to your E-ZPass account and for some reason your physical transponder wasn't read by the overhead toll equipment, the toll amount would be charged back to the rental agency and they would charge you the cash rate plus fees.

By adding the rental car to your E-ZPass account, they could match the license plate to your E-ZPass account if the physical transponder didn't read.

Used NY EZ Pass this past summer, worked great. Did what others did-just held up to windshield, I want to try to remember to bring a small piece of velcro this summer to avoid the sliding around!

That's what I did, I got some velcro strips at Michael's for about $3. Just remember to take the transponder with you when you return the car!

I bought a suction cup transponder holder on Amazon for $8. Worked well and now it's no problem moving from vehicle to vehicle.

This is what I did that way it is easy to transfer your EZ pass from car to car. I used an EZ pass from NH.

We are stationed overseas and bought the EZ pass for Florida. Instead of a transponder, ours is a sticker. I laminated it and just used painters tape to attach it. Worked well and no residue after almost 4 weeks, even in July heat (although I did replace the tape a couple times so that could be why). I like the suction cup idea, so going to see if I can find something that would work for us before our next visit.
