Hello all, new to both this forum and DVC. I have not purchased any DVC points but am currently looking into it, so expect tons of questions.

One question I do have that I have not been able to find an answer to in this or any forum really is how many points it takes to book the Disney Adventures. Is there a list out there of how many points it takes for each of the adventures?

Thanks,
Adam

It's a whole bunch!

I think the cheapest ones are about 300 points PER PERSON.

The good thing is that you can pay with points for 1 person, and pay in cash for others.

I'm sure someone will post with better information.

I think that collection is absurdly expensive and it is definitely out of our price range since we only own 250 points. Even in the "value" season, the cheapest "adventure" is a 7 day / 6 night trip to Italy. Adults would need 323 points each and children would use 291 points each. If you wanted to go during "regular" season those points would jump to 352 per child and 391 per adult. This particular adventure is not available during "peak" season. Some of the more expensive adventures range from 317 & 352 in "value season" (this is for Costa Rica) to 340 & 378 in "regular" and then go up to 352 and 391 in "peak". If you wanted to go on one of the longer adventures (say 10 days / 9 nights to Australia) you would need a minimum in "value" season of 469 per child and 522 per adult.:scared:

I don't know at what age they consider a child to be an adult. I know that admission to the parks & for the DP it is age 10 +. The planning book does not list specific dates to know what is considered "regular" or "peak" or "value" season so who knows what you would be in for. It just says to call Member Services for trip dates and age ranges. There is also the $95 non-refundable transaction fee to exchange out of DVC.

Note that these are the 2008 points...the 2009 points / planners have not been mailed out to members yet. They are likely to change (read: go up) from year to year.

Just want to add that so far this year, they have cancelled a ton of the AbD tours, including the one we had booked. So not only are the points high (and probably will continue to increase each year), you could plan on using your points only to have your trip cancelled. We were lucky in that ours was cancelled 8 months out (we were not using points as I consider it a terrible exchange) but some on the AbD thread are reporting theirs have been cancelled within 4 weeks of their trips if not enough people registered.

If you reserve AbD using points, please be sure you understand what happens to the points if you have to cancel. Also ask what happens if Disney cancels.
