Using Dollar for the first time with AAA discount

For my personal use, I finally nailed down the least expensive rental for my time period and it was with Dollar. In the past I have been a loyal Alamo renter but they are just too much no matter how painless it is to just walk to your car and drive away. The only thing with Dollar is that the rate I got was for AAA members. I am a member but my wife is not and she will be getting the car. Long story. I will be with her at time of rental to be added as additional driver.

What I would like to know is if they specifically want to see your AAA card and if they do, do they scrutinize the card and compare names? I know in the past with Alamo I used the Costco code and I was never asked to produce my card. Anyone have similar experiences?

Thank you

Sorry can't answer your AAA question but wanted to caution on Dollar. We chose them over Alamo a few years ago due to a great discount. Turned out they tried to charge us for a coin sized scratch that was on the car when we picked it up- they wanted over 350 for repainting over a month after we had rented. I'd check recent reviews for all the major companies before making a decision.
Also wanted to add I was going to have the same issue with an AP or Costco discount with Alamo and upon asking the phone rep if there would be an issue, he said no. I would call Dollar and ask if you choose to use them.
