Using dining plan on check in day?

Hi all, we are going to Disney next year and whilst this will be trip 7, it will be the first time we have stayed in Disney (very excited ) We have the Dining Plan and were hoping to arrive in the morning in check in day and begin visiting the parks with our tickets and use our dining card (can't remember what Is called) even though we know we can't check in until 1600 in our actual room.

Are you given your dining cards before you arrive and are they activated or do you have to wait until 1600 when you check in to use them???

They will give you your room keys (the same card acts as your room key and your dining credit repository, plus your park tickets if you bought them as part of a package) as soon as you check in at the resort, whether your room is ready for occupancy or not.

You can start using the dining credits immediately after you receive the cards (they are referred to as Key To The World cards or KTTW). But you must go to the resort to check in and pick them up.

Your dining credits are available from the moment you check in(whether your room is ready or not) until 12 midnight on the day you check out.
