I did a search for a question I have on developer points and couldn't find an answer, so I'm asking the experts.
If I make a ressie at BCV at the 11 month window for next October, will I be able to switch to using AKV developer points at the 7 month window thus freeing up my BCV points?

I find I'm constantly borrowing ahead my BCV points (yes, I need to add on there:goodvibes ), so I thought if I could use my developer points in that manner it would help put off the need to add on.

Thanks for all your help.

You can't switch. You have to cancel and rebook. You run the risk of losing your dates. As soon as you cancel, your original dates are available for wait lists. People have reported that within the time it took for the MS CM to change screens on their computer, the dates became not available. Do you feel lucky?

Actually here is a thought...
Go ahead and make your 11 month ressie using your normal allotment of points. So, at least you will then have something for your vacation.

At the 7 month mark, make a ressie for AKV using only dev points, if you have enough to cover the need. Then cancel the BCV ressie and get those "regular" points back and/or bank if desired.

But disneynutz is right... do not cancel one ressie unless you already have the other ressie in place, conformation in hand.

I think SamSam wants to stay at the BCV using the developer points he/she received when purchasing AKV.

disneynutz is correct. You cannot substitute the developer points for the BCV points you used to make a reservation at the 11 month mark. That would defeat the home resort/non home resort booking rules.

If there is still availability at 7 months for the same dates and room type, then you can make the BCV reservation with the developer points and cancel the reservation made with the BCV points.

I am not so sure about that. We had a week long BCV reservation for this past September and when we did our add-on at AKV in August, I was able to call MS and they switched the entire reservation over the developer points and my SSR points went right back in my bank.

Thanks for all your help. I definitely do not want to risk losing my reservation by transferring to developer points! I thought I had read that I could switch a current reservation to developer points, thus putting the original points back into their use year to be banked or anything else you wanted to use them for. If that is not how it works then I definitely won't run the risk.

Yes, I was wanting to book at BCV, using BCV points, then switch to my AKV developer points at the 7 month window so that I would have my BCV points back. Just when I think I have it figured out, I realize I still have a lot to learn. :)

You can only swap your points if there is no waiting list for the room you have. Ultimately, what you are doing is cancelling and rebooking with the other points.

Otherwise, those Developer points would have a home resort advantage. Which they don't.
