Using DDP credits for others

I think I remember reading somewhere that for 2017, Disney would now allow you to use your DDP credits to cover meals for people who aren't on your room reservation. Is this correct? We have a lot of extended family so we are wondering if we could pay for a couple of their table service meals using our credits. If its not allowed, then we wouldn't do it but I think I remember reading that you can now?
