We have paid for the DCL transfers from AKL to PC and back to AKL after the cruise. I just thought to myself “what if someone else on the bus, not part of your travel group, needs to test at PC and they test positive!! What then? Is the whole bus denied boarding privileges?” You’ve now been in close contact with them for at least an hour. Yikes. Time to rethink using their transportation for this trip!!

Masks are required for everyone right? I would make sure my family was wearing medical grade or as
close to it as possible. Even if that person test positive no guarantee your family will. Now later in the
cruise who knows. This is why im hesitant to cruise. We have to fly to get there so someone on plane
can be positive no way we know. I'm pretty sure DCL has protocols for contact tracing for someone
positive. Just keep protecting yourself and loved ones as much as possible and have fun and stay
safe.

Oh and i guess you can take Uber? Anyone know if Uber/Lyft drivers are required to wear masks? Also
are you going to WDW before the cruise? If so I would worry about testing positive from there. My cousin
and a neighbor just tested positive after being there. Both vaccinated and mild cold like symptoms
only. And if it makes you feel any better I picked my cousin and family up from airport and was around
her 3 days and I nor her husband and kids have tested positive and it has been almost 2 weeks and 3 tests.

In my case we are staying at AKL but not going to the parks, pool time only. We’re now thinking about renting a car for our stay.

I remember reading about a situation in Europe last summer, when cruises resumed there, that a van load of people were picked up from a hotel and taken to the port. They were testing everyone pre-boarding and someone tested positive. The entire van load was denied boarding.

Oh dear I hope that does not happen. I think rental prices are still high but maybe it is the same
compared to what you were paying for transfer. I would rent also but are you leaving car at port?
I do hope you can relax and have fun once you get past the stressful part of boarding!

Thanks for the positive thoughts. We would rent and leave it at the port while on the cruise. My DH and I are both vaccinated. Neither one of us have taken a day off this year except Memorial Day, we both worked 4th of July and we haven’t used any vacation or sick days. We’ve had 4 cruises canceled between last year and this year. We really need a vacation!! Just trying to make sure we do everything we can to be safe so we can cruise again!!

It may be advantageous for Disney to transport by vaccinated and unvaccinated groups. One bus all vaccinated, one bus only unvaccinated. Especially since there are currently different check in procedures for the 2 groups.

This would be tricky for families where the parents are vaccinated but the children are not.

The vaccinated parents would need to travel with the unvaccinated children as they would have to accompany them through the process of testing and either be accepted or rejected depending on the outcome of the testing.

If you are on a bus feel that would catch you up in some close contact protocol but could be wrong.

We are driving a rental car and will just avoid that.

I'd really like to read DCL's position on this. Now I'm worried about taking the bus. That would be HORRIBLE.

When we did ME in December, they were still distancing people on the buses. Hopefully, the cruise buses would also.

Yes! This would be my concern too. I want to limit the possibility that I get bounced from my cruise as much as possible! Could you imagine that everyone in your party is perfectly healthy and you get bumped bc some stranger seated in front of you tests positive ?! No thanks!!

If someone tests positive on Disney transportation, should Disney quarantine everyone on that bus? It takes several days after contracting the virus to test positive. I know it's not a big deal since they aren't testing vaccinated people so COVID is obviously going to be on the ships.

There is no way they can keep Covid off the ships or anywhere else. You can have a negative test 4 days prior to embarkation. You run to a store to pick up some items, or sit next to someone on a plane and you come in contact with someone with covid. You test negative at port the next day. 2 to 14 days after that you have full blown covid (covid incubation is 2 to 14 days). You did your best to try to be protected. It’s the current way of the world.

Except that even vaccinated people can catch the Delta variant and transmit it. So separating them would be a moot point.

As long as DCL is testing unvaccinated and not vaccinated there is a separate check in process. With both on one bus they would have to stop before entering port and separate the two groups - unvaccinated getting off the bus and retrieving their luggage then going through testing. The vaccinated would then proceed directly to check in. That is why it would make logistical sense to transport the 2 groups separately.
However once they would start testing everyone at port it wouldn’t matter.
