Can we go to a community hall when we are not staying at the resort? Looks like we might get some rain next week and I am trying to plan in advance.

Disney.go.com states: "Amenities and activities are available to current Guests of the Resort where the Community Hall is located. Most are complimentary, while some are available for a fee."

Looks like the Community Halls are for the guests staying at the specific resorts.

Here's a recent (November) Touring Plans blog talking about how anyone can use most of the Community Halls. Not official, I realize, but of course DVCmember.com seems to have no information that I can find and this is how it actually works in practice. The Community Halls are generally uncrowded with rare exceptions and they don't care who uses the facilities (BLT is mentioned as an exception to that, mainly due to difficult access for those not staying there). I have personally used the Community Hall at SSR with my kids when I wasn't staying at the resort or even using my membership.

I've heard of others staying elsewhere who were doing the ceramic painting activity at SSR.

Don't know if there is any rule. I have not tried going to a community hall at a resort different from the one I am staying But I have never been requested to provide a room key ID for the resort at any community hall except when checking something out.

Technically it's limited to the guests of that resort but I know many have been able to use it. Just ask but have a plan if they say no.

My girls love the Community hall at SSR but we are fresh out of points (darn you PAP) and this is just a quick trip while my dh goes to Tampa for work. Looks like rain next week so I thought I would think of other things to do. Staying at a value this trip so hanging out in the room is not much of a choice. I will check it out. Thanks!!

We visit every Community Hall at the resorts we have stayed at. We once spent (what seemed like) an entire day at the one at Bay Lake Tower. We had been at Epcot in the morning, but there was a torrential downpour which forced us back to the resort. Kids had a lot of fun playing with other kids there - there was a lot to do and movies playing, etc.

Last year, we got to Kidani early and our room wasn't ready. I didn't plan well and we did not have our swim suits with us, so, we spent hours at the Community Hall waiting for our room to be ready. (Which took until about 5:00) Kids played pool, watched movies, played Wii, etc. while hubby and I had an adult beverage or two.

Looking forward to hanging out at Jambo next week. Hope the weather holds out for you!
