Using character vouchers at other restaurants question

Tax and gratuity are supposedly included with the vouchers, but, if you have experience using them at other restaurants that are NOT character meals, did this turn out to be true? Or, is the face value just deducted from the bill and you paid gratuity? I don't mind this, just want to know to budget/prepare. Thanks!

If they are used at a non character dining place they you get face value of the coupon. So that price would be deducted from your total bill
