Hi~

I was wondering if you could help me. I am interested in using cash for weekends instead of my points. Can someone please explain the process to me? How do I reserve it, can I stay in the same room, any details would be very appreciated.

Thanks

If you are a member AND if the member discount is available, you can get a discount of 25% off the rack rate. The member must be staying in the room with the member discount. You can link a member discount cash rate room with a room on points. Your stay on a member cash discount will be treated the same as a stay on points. T&T on the fourth day, poolhopping rights, etc.

You can get an AP rate if it is available AND if you have an AP or PAP. That rate may be a bit more or less depending on the villa. There is no way to link a stay on points and a stay through CRO. But if you give MS the CRO reservation number and inform the CM when you check in, you might be able to stay in the room. But you may have to check out and check back in. You will be treated like any other Disney Guest staying at a Disney resort - full cleaning every day, etc.

I've done it both ways, both at OKW in a 1 bedroom in early May. If you reserve through member services and combine with a points stay, it becomes one stay. Two years ago, we did Fri & Sat nights on member discount and Sun to Thurs nights on points. We had trash & towel on Monday, day 4 of the combined stay. We got room keys & parking pass for the entire stay on Friday check-in. Last year we did the AP discount, it was about $20 cheaper and was for our last night. We did Sun-Thurs on points and then Fri night on AP rate. We did have to get new keys & a new parking pass on Friday. We did get full housekeeping on Friday. This year (this Saturday actually), we are doing Saturday night on member discount and Sun-Thurs on points. This year the member discount and the AP discount were about the same so I went for the seemless stay.

Can you book a night on points, then convert it to a cash night? What about booking for cash, then converting it to points?

If it's available you could change it from one to the other but you can't "convert" if it's not available.

CRO inventory and DVC inventory are not the same. So there is no converting from cash to points or points to cash. If you cancel a cash night through MS, you might have to go to the bottom of the waitlist if there are others waiting for a points night. If you cancel a points night, same thing. And it won't necessarily become a member cash discount night.

As Deb pointed out, rooms paid for by points and rooms paid for by cash come from two different "pots", so there is no converting. That's why they sometimes have rooms available for points, but not cash, or vice versa. There will always be a small amount of rooms available for cash at CRO, but you would have to be quick to get them. If you reserve a room for cash, that room will always be cash, you can't change it later unless there are points rooms available in the points "pot", and then you cancel the cash room and get a room from the points "pot". :teeth:
