using an old unused ticket toward a multiday pass.

I have a one day non hopper ticket attached to an old (2009) card key. We had a package for 6 people in a family suite and paid for 1 day non hopper pass to get the free dining. 5 of us upgraded our tickets to parkhopper 5 day passes and used them on that trip. One of us didn't need the ticket, had another pass. At the time I was told that as long as that pass had never been activated it could be used and/or exchanged, and didn't have to be in the same name as the name on the card.

I'd like to use it as credit toward a FL resident multiday pass. I know I have to go to guest services at the park to exchange it. Does anyone have experience doing such an exchange? Is there anything I can do ahead of time to make it go smoothly?
Thanks.

If you got this ticket prior to Feb. 2015, you should use it one time to go into a theme park before you upgrade it.
Then, just go to any ticket booth or Guest Relations and upgrade the ticket.
Very common procedure.

Thanks, does it matter that the name on the ticket doesn't match the name for the person trying to use it? Since it was never used by the first person? Do you know if the upgrade practice works to upgrade to FL resident tickets?

Thanks,

1. Nope.
2. You can upgrade to any ticket which you are entitled to use.
For a FL resident ticket, you will need to show a legal photo ID
with proof of FL residency.

So, it sounds like we should be all set, next question is, is there a way to link the unused pass, which is on a KTTW from 2009 (magnetic strip on the back?) to my brother's MDE account before we arrive so he can get FP+ for the day? If not, do we need to turn in that card for an RFID card before entering the park, or can he actually just go and swipe it at a turnstyle?

1. If it is a "new? and never-used ticket, it can be reassigned to anyone.
The person needs an MDE account that is connected to your (or actually be listed on your MDE account) in order to transfer the ticket.

2. Otherwise, if the ticket is listed in an MDE account, it does not need to be exchanged (or even physically used) at the park.

If you have difficulty linking the ticket to an MDE account,
call WDW Ticketing Guest Relations at (407) 566-4985 (option 5) or

call the WDW I.T. Dept. at (407) 939-7765 (option #2) or (407) 939-3471.

Thanks so much, Robo! The ticket is new, never used, just not sure how I get it "off" the KTTW card. But there are several numbers on it, so we'll start by setting up the MDE account for him and then try, or use the numbers you provided, that's a great help.

When we get this all figured out, if he doesn't have a magic band, (he's not staying onsite, just coming for day trips) how does he get an actual card to go through the gates?

Take a legal ID (and the 2009 ticket in question) to any ticket booth or Guest Relations and he'll be issued a new RFID ticket.

THANK YOU, Robo! It's working exactly as you said! At least so far. I decided to call first and a wonder CM helped me put the ticket on my MDE and explained everything. We just need to finish setting up DB's account, then we can reassign. I'll be sure to bring the 2009 card with me, and give it to DB, then he can just go to ticket booth at the park.

Thanks again, you've helped make this such an easy thing to do.

You're welcome!
Glad to hear things are working as they should.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:
