Using Alamo, can the additional driver pick up the car?

I have my son listed as the additional driver and plan on doing online check in. I thought it would be fun to take my 2 grandchildren on the ME bus and have my son and his wife take the rental car to the resort. Would that be okay, or will I need to pick the car up?

To the best of my knowledge, anyone who is being listed as a driver must be present at the time of the rental. They always make both of us sign the rental agreement.
After that point, I think you could part ways and you take the kids on DME and let your son drive the car out.

Okay, I thought that if I checked in online I could by pass all that. Oh well you have to go past all the rental counters to get to the ME counter anyway

If you do the online check-in, you will bypass the counter and just go out to the garage to pick out your vehicle.
However, both drivers must be present at the exit gate and show their drivers licences to the gate attendant for verification.

You could use the desk to check-in if the lines are short. They will verify both of your drivers licences, then split up like you wanted to.

You could use the online check-in and all go to pick up the rental, then swing back around the airport and get out at the terminal entrance. At this point, just go to the ME desk for the trip to WDW while the others take the car.
