I see that DISNEY has a great ticket deal of BUY ONE ADULT TICKET, GET A KID'S TICKET FREE.

They problem is that my 11 year old is considered an ADULT by DISNEY
and I do not think that is fair.

I was wondering if I purchased two adult tixs and received the 2 childs tixs
free, WOULD ANYONE AT DISNEY LANDS ENTRY gates care or acutally check?

What is the difference between the ticket types.

I do not mean to be sleazy but I already have to buy a 3 day hopper and can
only go to the parks for two days. Just getting deperate as the bills PILE UP
for a DISNEY VACATION.

the tickets will have child written on the back of them child 3-9. I don't know how htey check for ages? They never checked our 7 year old but there is a big differance btw 7 and 11. I think they charge the adult fair at a young age as a 10 year old can go on all the same rides as a adult except maybe the maliboumer in CA.

They are also offering adult tix at kids prices until April 28th. I hope that offer is one that will work for you.

The DIS doesn't sanction tips that try to break the rules at Disney... Just a friendly heads up.

Although the tickest say adults, they are really for juniors and adults, ages 10+. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to rename the tix to avoid confusion.

Please think about what you are thinking of doing. You wouldn't have brought this up if you were comfortable buying a child's ticket for your 11 year old. My kids are 24, 21, 17, 12 and 7. I'm saying that because I want you to know I have had 3 teens and one will be soon. Take my word for it, the LAST thing you want is for your child to think it is okay to be dishonest as long as it saves you money. And saving money is what we are here to help you do! Keep reading these boards and you'll get plenty of budget ideas. Maybe you could have your 11 year old figure out the difference between an adult and child ticket and start a project for saving the money for that purpose.

Not that I am condoning this, but just a question. Am I the only one whose parents had them lie at the movies, etc. about how old they were and didn't grow up to be a liar or think it was okay? Just asking because I don't think her 11 year old will be scarred for life if she did it, I wasn't. He won't care, he's at Disneyland. OP, not a good question to ask here as no one on the DIS has ever lied about anything. Good luck, I hope you are able to figure something out!

You are right. I was not trying to break the rules but I was concerned with the cost of
the trip getting out of hand.
I had looked into using the SOUTHERN CAL CITY PASS but the childs version has a date
range of 3-9 yet SEAWORLD & SAN DIEGO ZOO (we can not even fit in KNOTTS BERRY)
allow a child to be 11 years or younger. It gets confusing??
My guilt and anal retentive nature would cause me to do the correct act in the end.

As Mary Jo mentioned, there are 2 ticket specials on until the end of April. One is the buy and adult, get a child free special. The other is buy an adult at the child's price.

Disney most likely says that children 10 and over are adults because they can ride every ride in the parks--therefore, they should pay full price. I don't necessarily agree with this, but I can see the logic.

I did some research, and it appears that you can purchase a discounted 2-day hopper from ARES travel. I don't know anything about this company, but I found out about them at mousesavers.com. According to this, the discounted price for adults is 102.50, while the gate price is 105.00. Anyway, this website might have other savings you might be interested in.

When she gets there, could she trade her two free child tickets for an adult ticket?

If you join Hotwire Savings Club you can get 2 day park hoppers for $96.60 adult. Your first month is free so you could always cancel after you receive your tickets.

If the price of entry is too much, have you added in the cost of food? Dining at DL is not cheap. How much savings could there be to make or break the trip based upon ticket cost? If you are this close to budget limit, it may be advisable to wait until you are able to save a little extra money to not feel that you need to have your child "lie" to get into the parks. The gate CMs are known to ask ages when children appear to be older. Perhaps postponing the trip until it is more affordable is the best option.

I'm confused, why aren't you buying a 2 day hopper, if you're only going to be in the parks for 2 days. 3 adult 2 day park hoppers and 1 child park hopper (that's what it sounds like you're buying) would cost 404. Buying 3 adult 3 day hoppers (and getting a free kids hopper) would cost 477, and 4 3 day hoppers (2 child, 2 child at adult prices) would be 516. So the 2 day hoppers would be the cheapest.

By the way if the gate CMs feel that the child is too old they will ask for their age, and if they still feel that the child is too old they will ask for proof. I have seen them deny both free under 3s (making parents buy the child a childs ticket) and someone with a childs ticket buy an adult ticket.

As far as taking the free child ticket and upgrading to an adult ticket, I suspect (though may be wrong as I haven't seen the tickets) that they are marked as being a free ticket. Therefore, they will probably not allow you to upgrade for just the difference in price from a child's ticket to an adults ticket.

Most theme parks have children at adult prices when they are tall enough to go on all the rides. My 11 year old dd is nearly as tall as me and goes on every single ride in the park. She even manages the young kids rides and rides the fastest roller costers. I have not minded paying the adult price for her since she was 9. I have noticed that the kids meals go up to 12 years old. My dd eats as much as me and I sometimes we get her adult meals depending on the type of restaurant.

Yesterday we went to a theme park here in the uk and the kids prices went up from age 12. I brought along with me proof of age as my daughter looks so tall!! She really did get great value for money as she went on ever ride and several times. (the park was empty as some schools have broken up for Easter and others have not). However this park was not a patch on DL!

I don't see it as not being fair, as we got to pay for the child's price all the years we had to do the child swap and it is definately worth the money now we can all ride together.

Disney makes 10 years old adults because they can.
It is ridiculousl.
Many 10 year olds cannot ride everything.

They also say that kids meals are for under 10.
Disney is a great place to go.

But not in any way family friendly price wise.

They never ask ages unless it is clearly not a child.

In the worst case if they question you and you crack then you will have to pay the difference.

It’s Disney’s prerogative to set pricing as they see fit.

I can’t, due to a disability, ride many rides- I can’t transfer to POC, a doom buggy is probably out of the question now, and the mountains are not likely. I don’t get a discount. Is that fair? It is in the sense that I’m in the adult age group.

Pay the proper price.
