My son will have just turned 5 for our upcoming trip. He has been swimming lots this summer and is now very confident at swimming with his bubble. Will they allow children to go down the water slides with a bubble or another type of flotation device? He really wants to try the water slide at our hotel and I did not know if he would be allowed to or not. thanks :goodvibes

I know the pool by our house does not allow using the slide with any type pf floatation device for safety reasons I don't know for sure but I would imagine disney would be the same.

Hey my sons name is Kyle as well. What is a bubble? He can where a life jacket down the slide. Not sure where you are staying but I know the deluxe Disney hotels provide life jackets at the pool

Thanks for the input. We are staying at WL. So they provide life jackets? I think he would try that if they let him go. A "bubble" is a nickname for a flotation device that wraps around the waist. The flotation device is worn on the back. This is the type of device that my son uses in his swim classes and the only one they recommend because it encourages natural swimming techniques. I hope that makes sense. He is doing great with it and you can slowly remove each "floatie" until he is swimming on his own. He started with 4 and is now using 3. :flower3:

Ok I know what you are talking about now. They should have the Life Jackets by the pool. At least Animal Kingdom Lodge does.

Most (all? all that I know of) of the pools have lifejackets available (and, as far as I know - they are free). Most (but not all) of the slides will allow your son to go down in a lifejacket. I know you can't go down the big slide at Storm Along Bay in a lifejacket - but I'm pretty sure you will be permitted to at WL.

WL has a pretty small slide, and the water at the bottom isn't terribly deep (it may be over a five year old's head though).

You are not permitted to wait at the bottom of the slide. You can generally be not TOO far away though. You are not permitted to go down the slide with him.

Yes...all WDW resorts have life jackets at the pool. Most have a bin that is out in the open and you help yourself. If you don't see any jackets just ask a lifeguard.

We were at WL last November and DD used a one piece suit that has the inserts in it. Target has them and they are on clearance now.

My 5 year old son wore arm floaties all week earlier this year in both hotel pools (including the water slides at Stormalong Bay) and the slides at Blizzard Beach. Disney has no problems with this.
