Using '07 AKV points

I am offering a "honorary" niece a stay using DVC points for a honeymoon in September. I can borrow BWV points, but if I am allowed to use my AKV points, I would prefer to do that. I am NOT offering them AKV. Is there a date in May that I can book using AKV points, or can I book 7 months out for a stay in September '07?

from what I have read it - May would be when you can first try to use your AKV points.

but don't know for sure.

I guess if the building schedule is still on time for a Sept opening? (this is just the AKL part - not the separate building)

Thanks spiceycat. I have just sent an e-mail to MS to see if I can get their answer. I don't even know if the honeymooners have another plan. I just got the news of the engagement yesterday.

Definitely check it out, Bobbie, because I kind of think you can start reserving AKV in May, but I don't think it can be for a stay that comences before September.

I would think you could use them at other resorts at the 7mo. window. I thought the other dates were mainly for booking at AKV due to when the resort would actually have DVC villas completed. Be sure and let us know what you find out. BTW...your "honorary" niece sure has a nice "honorary" aunt!

Give me a moment to applaud my DH who has agreed to the offer. DH also was a wonderful host when we brought DHN and her sister to WDW in '01as our guests. First flights for one, first trip to WDW for both, and DH who had not been crazy about the idea was a great host. These were teenagers, and although we couldn't bear to let them sleep beyond 8AM (we were at WDW, after all). We were in connecting rooms at ASM and don't have a clue about what time they went to sleep!

You cannot use AKV points to book at any DVC resort prior to a September vacation.

The reason is simple, it's a reciprical thing.

EG, If I use BWV points to book an August stay at VWL, a VWL owner could still use his points to book an August stay at BWV. Basically this is a reciprical (swap) of our home resorts.

But if an AKV owner books an August stay at VWL, the VWL owner cannot in turn book an August stay at AKV. IE: A reciprical exchange is not possible.

Some important dates:

Feb 28th: last day can buy 150 AKV points and be considered a Founding Member and get name on the tapestry. (There have been some reports that this will actually be March 5th and not Feb 28th)

March 5th: Price goes up to $104/point (The current $8.00/point incentive ends. Also option of getting developer points ends) (There is no word yet if another incentive will be offered)

March 5th: Sale of AKV points opened to general public and no longer restricted to current DVC members. Points sold will be for phase II, and thus will be 2008 points, not 2007 points.

May 16th: First date AKV owners may book using AKV points. (They may book at any resort, but booking dates can be no earlier than Sep 1st)

June 6th: First date non AKV owners can book rooms at AKV.

Sept 1st: AKV opens.
