We're going to be in LA from July 14-21. We have 3 days planned at DL and DCA and have prepurchased FOTL passes for USH. We're staying at the GC and will have a rental car. In order to avoid traffic issues :car:, we were thinking about going to USH on Sunday, rather than a weekday. Even if the park is busier on the weekends, at least we'll be able to avoid most of the lines with the FOTL passes.

Can any SoCal experts give me a thumbs up or down on that plan? Thanks.

With FOTL there won't be much of a wait for anything. They usually hold a reserved section at every show until about 5 minutes before show time so you can show up then if you like. Sundays in July are busy, but slower than Sat or Friday. See the first Fear Factor show and the last Waterworld show for the least crowds.

Sunday evening traffic back to OC is bad. I'd suggest you wait until after 10PM if you can and avoid 6PM to 9PM completely.

We went to USH on Saturday while we stayed in Anaheim and the traffic wasn't bad going there at 730 in the morning but coming home was a little more busy. Also the lines weren't that bad at all. The longest line we waited on was for The Mummy which was 20 minutes. The longest lines that day were 30 minutes for Back to the Future which we didn't go on. But lines weren't bad at all. Just get there early when it opens then go see Shrek 4D since rides like Jurassic Park and Mummy don't open up till 30 minutes after the park opens. Once you get out of Shrek 4D go and ride the Mummy and Jurassic Park a bunch of times then enjoy the Studio Tour and all the shows.
