USGB- how did you package your shipment?

I am hoping someone can help me out here. I know the answer is on the old "selling gold" thread but at 196 pages, I think it's time for a new thread! I have contacted USGB (chatted with Kevin) and he sent me the shipping info. I have a couple of questions:

How did you package your gold? I have a few earrings, a couple of rings, a couple of chains, and a very heavy chain. I was thinking of putting them in a ziplock baggie, wrapping it in paper, and then putting this is in a bubble-envelope. Do you think this will work?

Is it easier to ship thru FedEx, as directed by USGB, or through the US Mail?

IF you aren't home when they call, do they leave a message and can you call them back, or did you have to play phone tag? Would they leave a message with whoever answered?

I had a fair amount of gold and silver. USGB pays for shipping of gold only, so I packaged them separately and shipped them via FedEx per their instructions.

I cataloged the items I sent (took some grouped photos, as well). Wrapped them in a zip-top bag, wrapped that in bubble wrap and placed it in a box with the required paperwork and list of items with my personal information on it. Had some leftover packing peanuts that I used to keep it from moving around in the box.

Everything went very smoothly. I gave them my cell phone number (prepaid and usually turned off), tracked the package on the FedEx website, then made sure I turned my phone on the day they received the package. I had calculated the approximate value of the gold and silver separately based on their weight, precious metal content and USGB's published price--just a ballpark figure. The price they quoted was slightly higher than my calculation.

I had the check mailed via USPS. It made it across country in three or four days.
