I've never been part of a chat board before so I didn't know what I was doing when I picked a username. Now I realize it's how people get to know you. My name is hard to remember. It stands for (I would rather be in Disney) Has anybody ever changed their username? Does it confuse people? Should I change mine? :confused3

I think if you put something like your name explanation in your signature it might help. I tend to notice people by their signatures more than their names at first. Like as if their signature is their face. I'm bad with remembering names, but I remember faces.

Good idea! I'll try that!:thumbsup2

I like the signature! Tink is a nice touch. FWIW, I don't like my username, either.

How is this?

Do you think it's a good idea to put a personal picture up?

I like the signature! :thumbsup2

I too remember signatures better than names. I often find that if someone changes their signature I forget who they are!

The sig is good! I tried to change my username but the DIS said NO. I really wanted my name to be DoleWhipDiva. ((((sigh))))

I am no longer 32 years old, and that is the number in my username. Oh well......I guess it really doesn't matter.

I'm glad you like my new signature.:thumbsup2 I hope it helps people remember me more than iwrbnd which is hard to remember if you don't know what it stands for!

Don't feel bad.

My user name is my first name backwards I am not really creative. I can't tell you how many people think I am an asian woman named akcire, I have gotten some really interesting PM's?!!

I do take great amusement informing these people that my name is Ericka.

I love my username...

But I'm very big on remembering people by their sig pictures, like chisnpeke. And C.Ann uses a different font which makes her post easy to spot out.

I tried to add a sig picture but it keeps telling me the pic is too big. I'll have to see if my teenage son can do it. So sad my kids are passing me up on computer intelligence!:sad2:

I was happy that it wasn't taken :goodvibes I like the sig you added to yours
very memorable :thumbsup2

On other boards I used a number of usernames before I settled in on the one I now have. I don't change it on different boards, I just use that one and I don't understand why it would matter from one board to the next.

If you want to change it all you really have to do is establish a new account. All you will lose is the history of how many posts, etc. If you are just starting out, it doesn't really cause that much of a problem.

I like your username, too!

I think the signature is good:thumbsup2

I tend to notice avatars (yet, mine is totally generic--coems from not having the skills to change it and being too lazy to learn).

My username is ridiculous now since i no longer live in New Hampshire (or even the USA) but I figure people know me by it now so wh ychange (even if I could, which I do not think I can).

My husband HATES my screen name* and wanted me to change it. I told him if I did, I'd lose my post counts. Then, he looked at how often I posted and thought perhaps I spend too much time online.

and then I found Facebook...

(*he thinks it makes me sound poor or homeless.)
