User Year Questions

I have a user year question about add-ons. We recently purchased DVC and have a February use year at BCV. We are considering an add-on but February is sold out. Is it a big deal to have a different use year? We considered waiting until they start selling DVC at the old Institute (Saratoga Springs) and requesting a February use year.

Any thoughts?

We considered waiting until they start selling DVC at the old Institute (Saratoga Springs) and requesting a February use year.

If you purchase directly from DVC, they will ONLY sell you the same Use Year for a purchase of less than 150 points. More than 150 points is considered a new contract and can be any Use Year.

Many people seem to juggle multiple Use Years that they purchase through resale. I'm sure they'll be giving you some tips soon.

Disney usually insists that add-ons have the same Use Year as your master contract. If you can find a resale with a different Use Year, they won't intervene for that reason.

Having different Use Years does require a little organization, but can be easily managed.

You might check with your guide to see if you would be allowed to purchase an add-on with a different Use Year. You may need to wait until SSR begins sales or purchase a Feb Use Year at another resort thru DVC directly.

You also should check as to whether Feb may become available again at BCV and possibly get on a wait list. The reason for the Feb sell-out is likely that it was the principal month being sold for the first three months of sale. There have been reports here that BCV is about half sold now. Likely, not all units have yet been dedicated to DVC as they do it on a rolling basis -- as some get closer to sell-out they dedicate more. Thus, it is possible that future dedicated units may include some with Feb use year making it available again.

Hi, We also bought our initial contract at BCV with a Febuary use year. We added an additional 100 points = 350 points and just closed. Our guide told us that the second contract would also need to be Feb. which was fine with us.
By the way, we bought the second contract BECASE of this board! I actually didn't realize it was "ok" to go to WDW every year...and I then I realized that it would be fun to go for Christmas one year, and then get a larger unit so I can bring all the grandkids, and then stay for longer, and then there is a cruise someday, and maybe just my husband and I will sneak away for a week of just us old guys....Hey - I need to go. Thanks so much for all the good advice. I have another question - is it possible that I may call for an add-on and they will give me a February use year at BCV, even though reports are that it is sold out or am I stuck on a wait list no matter what? I would be requesting less than 150 points.

Also, how bad is it managing two use years. My understanding is that you just need to keep in mind your banking dates to be sure that you don't miss anything. In our case, we generally make our plans a year in advance so I would know right away what I would need to bank, borrow etc... Does that make it easier with two use years?

These boards are great, my DH and I really appreciate all the great information and help.

I'm not sure BCV is sold out for Feb. They won't let you get Feb at this time using MB but I suspect they have stray Feb points laying around just for this reason. I'd call, even if they are sold out for Feb, I'm sure something will come in on a wait list. Good luck.
